So I couldn't have been the only babwebber to get one (3 actually) on the first day. I was just curious if we have any other iPhone fans here. |

As soon as I can justify the cost of a data plan AND the iPhone can access wireless networks like the iPod Touch (can the 3G do this?), I'm going to wait. They're way fun to play with though. Someday I'll be rich enough. |

Personally I don't covet a mobile phone enough to upgrade from my iPod touch. But that is my favourite gizzmo. |

I will admit I waited 2 hours in line at the local AT&T store! I was about the 30th person in line, luckily I got the last 16 gig phone they had. It was an experience, actually had a lot fun with the folks around me. The AT&T people distributed water and coffee to the hoards, which was very cool. Now, all I have to do is figure how to work the thing and I will good to go. |

Put the 2.0 firmware on my original iphone, same as new one just a bit slower on edge network. download all the free applications while you still can. |

I'm waiting until the third generation iPhone to upgrade from my 1st generation. Right now I have a GPS in every vehicle I own plus a handheld Garmin, so I don't need that. And the 3G network isn't in the places I go, so I don't need to pay an extra $10 a month for that. So until they expand 3G coverage, or make it completely different from the 1st generation iPhone, I won't upgrade. But the 2.0 software sure is nice... |

It's not worth the upgrade unless the G3 network is available in your area. And the GPS that the 1st gen. has may not be turn by turn but it has pulled my a$$ out of some uncharted territory |

Drove an hour to the nearest AT&T company store. I waited in line for two hours, then they told us that they would probably run out before we got to the front. They wouldn't tell us how many phones they had. I think it was a hundred. Called the nearest Apple store. 45 minutes away. They said they had plenty of phones and about 50 people in line. When we got there we found out that wasn't exactly true. There were about 300 people and the computers were down. Threw in the towel. Five hours later, got home. No iPhone. Thinking the whole thing over. Probably wait a couple of weeks till everything settles down. |

xl200r: Both the First Iphone and the new 3G can access wifi. AT&T Services is non-existent in a lot of the places I tend to have to go. So I haven't gotten and Iphone yet. But once they come out with a SSH application that doesn't require hacking it, I will work on Convincing $work that I need one But I did pay my $10 apple tax to update my Touch to the 2.0 software. Worth the $10 for the Remote app they give you. Going to be putting a couple more airport expresses around the house with speakers on them, and use one of the old macs as a juke box. It is wicked cool to be able to control all the music in the house from anywhere with the touch. Oh yeah and monkeyball is fun. |

I just upgraded my original iPhone that I bought the first day last year with 2.0. The new model isn't enough of a jump for me. The next version will probably have a better camera, 16GB, and faster processor. So I'll upgrade then. --Sean |

So far I like the new iphone. Battery life is not nearly as bad as some of the early reviews mentioned. I am in a core 3g area, and last night I surfed and played on it for close to 9 hours. That is more than I would ever need on a day to day basis. The only complaint I have about is the new rear plastic, it is very slippery. I haven't found a silicon case for it yet, but I would consider it a necessary accessory. I have already dropped it, luckily I caught it in time. |
