OUUUCH looks like somebody is dropping the brand. Funny (ironic and sad, not ha-ha) that their phone number is 888-HD Fever

Is this tied anywhere near them still not being able to carry a hand gun in the capital?... No Buells, No Handguns?.... correlation, The Onion wants to know. }

This, as a DC-area resident, is depressing. I've dropped by this dealer once or twice and was really impressed (bought the black Buell hat), but was primarily impressed by how they arranged their Hogs with so many custom versions. Ft. Washington is in the HEART of DC's sportbike country (which is HUGE)...they might have tried to reach out to that culture (which probably wouldn't have worked - my coworkers who ride in on Hayabusas look at my Uly like it's a jackhammer - which is just fine with me - they'll come around when they're in their late 40s).

I LOVE to walk into a H-D dealer with my armored pants, jacket, and gloves, and browse the Harleys (I own a Street Bob as well as a Uly...I love my Uly more than my satellite dish). The salespeople leave me alone.

RIP Ft. Washington Buell. More power to Battley, Old Glory, and Frederick Buell!

That price would MAKE me trade my beloved XB9R for the white 12.....glad I live in Aurora (IL).

You're darn right! I'm 6'3", but the 1125r looks like it might fit. Does the price at Ft. Washington make sense as a lark (meaning, could I get a year of enjoyment from it, then sell it for a good price?). Would they sell it to another dealer?

Alas...

If a dealer is going to drop the Buell line, it would be a much better strategy to offer the models to existing dealers to sell, not to discount like this. It won't degrade the value of the product, and those that want to keep the Buell line have inventory they could use.

Very frustrating to see things like this, as well as H-D.

Gathering storm clouds?

I'm guessing you're talking about MV Augusta, but I can't imagine anything better for Buell.

With MV Augusta, Harley will be able to make it clear that selling Buell/MV Augusta is a privelage that has to be earned rather than a hardship that has to be endured.

You want to sell Buell and MV Augusta? (what ambitious, forward thinking dealer wouldn't?) Great! Here's the deal: You have to have at least one full time salesperson devoted to the sport-bikes. You have to have at least one full time technician trained and dedicated to the sport-bikes. You have to have a minumum of X square feet of floor space dedicated to the sport-bikes etc. etc. etc.

I can't see how Harley deciding to make Sport-bikes 4.5% of their line rather than 3% is bad for Buell.

Appleton is a bit of a shock if they do give up . . . is it possible that Dave S. managed to sell them even without ideal market conditions? He could probably sell snow to an Eskimo.

. . . but except for Appleton, we've been seeing weaker dealers drop out and better dealers get stronger and that's a good thing for us.

I know one dealer that I wouldn't mind seeing drop Buells. In fact, I wouldn't mind if they went bankrupt. (No resentments here!)

If it were two or three months later I'd think about an 1125R at $9K. Too bad it's now and not October...

First, I had a dealer who is a Sponsor on this board PM me saying, "I hope it wasn't us!" about my last post. The dealer I was referring to is not a Sponsor here; if I gave any impression otherwise, I apologize.
The fact that someone would take the time to PM me shows that they care about their customers, and the dealership I was referring to does not.
Next, I don't want to go into details about my bad experience with the above mentioned dealer. All I'll say is they have a Used Car dealership mentality, and they've lost my business.
I work hard for my money; I'm a choosy bastard about who I give it to. I bought my XT from a Dealership in Connecticut who appreciates my business. They're a small shop with a good attitude. My daughter is presently riding a Blast. When she is ready to Move Up, they'll get her business, too.

Just to clear the air, the dealership we are getting the bikes from is from W Va, and they were double allocated. So we are buying their extras, thy are not dropping the line . My apologies for the confusion. (still waiting on the 9 to show.)

Chrisb,
Ah they're a normal HD dealer then. That's exactly the kind of crap that kills sales as far as I'm concerned. It would be back in the ball park of that other dealer that was selling for 10K while looking like a greater saving to get you in the door.

According to the string in the 1125 area there is one left now.
