After walking the pits at Homecoming/Road America I decided my bike needed to go on a diet.

Thats 6 POUNDS of parts that are not "needed"

Now if I could drop a few more pounds...

I've dropped 110, 125, 105 and 95 in one night before. I called them "Cancer of the Wallet", and they had to go.

All the belt guards,
Cut the inner air box down to nothing but the oval that sets on top of the air cleaner.
Horn = gone
Light mounting bracket = gone
Homemade rear number plates = gone and replaced with yellow and black tape on the rear of the seat.

I think thats about it.... I'll post pick of the after later. Here is the before.

Here's another -

Take off the rotor and stator. Go total loss. Doesn't just save a bunch of weight - it's weight on the ROTATING masses. Better throttle response without ANY sacrifice in reliability. Obviously if you're ever going to do a race that requires lights - NEVERMIND!!!

Wolf,

Have you ever considered lypo-suction? Probably could suck eight pounds of muck and a few ounces of unused brain matter out of your head! Then you could drill 2" holes in your skull to lighten it a bit. Drilling matching holes in your helmet would probably cause a whistle at speed though!

I'm sorry, I didn't get to go, so I have been building up to unload somewhere.

Oh wait.....I did get to go....It is funny you listed six pounds. I actually did weigh myself Sunday am and after a few rounds, over the course of four hours, I truly was six pounds lighter. A laxative helped though.

I see in your pic that you are still using standard shift pattern. You ought to switch to reverse pattern shifting. Doesn't save weight but it sure gives you the option of upshifting as you exit a left turn while leaned over.

Also, if you ever go to electronic shifter, it'll already be natural for you.

Also (#2) - makes it easier for upshifting without the clutch (but clutchless upshifting tends to wear the forks sooner).

The XBRR fairing has been mounted to a few XB racebikes (Paul James' and Greg Avello's bikes come to mind). Almost exactly the same aerodynamics as the 1125R.

You ought to switch to reverse pattern shifting

I have been thinking about that but with teaching MSF/Riders Edge all the time I'm afraid I would screw the pooch at some point in time. It could happen on the range or it could happen on the track. One thing is for sure. I would F-up shifting at the worst time possible so I am going to leave well enough alone for now.

KEEP it the same!!!

I wasn't thinking about the MSF gig. I switched all my bikes to reverse pattern and when I rented the Uly - I missed MANY shifts in the 5 days I had it.

I understand your concerns - fouling up the shifting would be TOO EASY to do and ANYTHING that screws with your attention is a BAD thing - it adds to laptimes.
