I am very close to trading in my gsxr750 and buying an 1125r. I am starting to get into track days, but it makes me nervous because I will be making payments on the bike. I am making payments on the gsxr but the parts for them are everywhere. How do you guys feel? If I had the money I would buy a dedicated track bike, but being your average young blue collar guy with a family it would be hard. I hope to never go down but I know it will happen some time.

I want a lil Blast for a track bike. I wouldnt feel so bad if something happened to a Riders Edge bike ; ) Plus at the speeds I run, that bike will keep me out of trouble

Best thing to do first is to develop a track day budget (with the wife involved) then determine if it can be worked in with your overall budget. It's best to do a reality check first because Track days or Race days, are expensive.

Insurance wont cover a "Track Day" but they will cover a "School".

Food for thought

Hammer71, I called my insurance agent about going to a riding school. He told me I was covered as long as I was the only person riding the bike. I didn't tell him it was at Mid-Ohio and that it was a high performance riding school. He just asked if it was some type of school. So I am assuming I am covered.

Walt, The wife and I have talked about a budget. I can make enough money in overtime through the winter(snow plow driver for local township)to do 1 track day a month from April through September if I wanted to do that many and if nothing major pops up and we have to use the money. It help's I only live 50 minutes from Mid-Ohio.
