Probably because Buell is no way affiliated Harley-Davidson.

"A full membership (in HOG) will entitle you to all the benefits and services of the Harley Owners Group. This option is for Harley-Davidson or Buell motorcycle owners only. The membership period is one year, at which time it must be renewed."

They kind of sound affiliated to me.

I'm still curious as to why anyone would expect HOG to ignore that photo of a ULY.

>>I'm still curious as to why<<

It's slightly under exposed.

Some HOG guys talk to me when we're out and about - some aren't interested. Feeling is mutual.

With my job I get to go to all the various makes events. HOG, RAT (triumph), Metric cruisers etc etc etc.
Apart from the type of motorcycle they prefer the groups are ALL remarkably similar.

Large and Diverse groups of people.

Typically there is

A bull dyke lesbian that competes in the drunk farting contest cause 'she will not be beaten at anything' - although often is.

An accountant/manager with poor riding skills that everyone always have to wait for

A ex-cop-soldier with graphic horror stories at the bar

a fat bugger who swears loudly in public

a former hippy who mumbles incoherently from time to time

Amongst all that you can also find some real good bastards who enjoy a common interest. Even the weird ones are on board with the bikes.

umm....so, back to my question...

Why would anyone expect HOG to ignore the photo?
(and, by the way- "ex-cop soldier(s)" with graphic horror stories at bars are usually liars....real ex-cops/soldies don't sit at bars telling stories of graphic horror- most would prefer not to recall them when they're trying to kick back)

Understand - but in this part of the world the graphic details are more likely to be about bodily functions.
Mess room style.

Oh - and it's a reasonable assumption Tramp, some HOG dudes turn their noses up at Buells - some don't.

So... wait... I'm the weird "fat bugger that swears loudly in public"?

I ride ALOT though, can I be classified as "good bastard who enjoy a common interest"

...and evidently some Buellers turn their noses up at HOG members...
(I know I certainly razz 'em, but from a different perspective)
what's the point?

What if a hogger said"I'm gonna send a photo of my heritage spank-tail to the BRAG website, and see if they post it...
would it be any different?

Yeah, the BRAG site is gone, they disbanded that group last year. there is now only the Owners section and you need your VIN to get into that, and it does a check to make sure it is a Buell (hell some of the tuber guys were having issues getting access as well as the Canadians)

I'm as blue as the next hairy biker, but not in front of the kids hey. And I said that to his face too and we get on famous.

Actually I've only been to one small Buell gathering.
They were all quite fit, compact dudes and some very tidy wimmen.

Mr uly gorilla was the odd one out.

When you look at page 18 you can see the photo of Stan's H-D in Batavia, NY. I would be the guy in that photo. Sorry, I didn't ride the XB12STT that day because I didn't want to carry my rain gear, that I might have just as well worn all day, in a backpack. I rode the FLHTI and let it carry all that stuff, maps and the trinkets I bought at Stan's. Sorry, not a Buell labeled item in the joint.

I've never been one to wear those vests and all the pins and sewn-on regalia, so sadly, I've only been a HOG member for a couple of short periods during the last 37+ years of continuous Harley ownership.

I don't think most of the current membership like me, anyway. I'll ride my bikes ALONE! Maybe even with only 1 other rider along. That's gotta be against the rules.

I somehow got the notion that Halloween is only one day a year, but for the LOCAL HOG bunch - it's every freakin' day!
(or maybe it's a UNIFORM, and I never got the memo - drats!)

They seem to be enjoying themselves, though, so more power to 'em.

If I cant haul your a$$ out on the carpet by name for whatever douche canoe maneuver you might pull, then we probably aint riding together. And I would expect nothing less from the blokes that I ride with. It tends to keep the groups small, the friendship strong and the skill set up. The parties are fun, but if ya been drinking, I am done riding in interval with ya. Been a HOG member for 5 years, have yet to attend a meeting in standing....

I have only been a member for the past 3 years but, go to meetings, rides and other events (blood drives, etc.) all the time and have yet to see an event that had alcohol at it other than the Christmas party. No bikes there. Maybe different local groups have different interpretations of the national rules. The national expectations are to "Ride and have fun" and drunken crashes are not most people's way to have fun while riding. Every thing I have seen STRONGLY discourages booze and HOG.

On the other hand, Miller, Bud and Harley do promote events together. Ride responsibly, you know?
