Does anyone know of a U.S. importer? My boots are just too hot this time of year. The sandals I have been wearing don't have the motorcycle specific safety features these do. I gotta have a pair. Any word on price? Some of that Indonesian and Pakistani gear is pretty pricey.

They are for markets in Bangladesh and SE Asia.
Guys riding 100cc mopeds and stuff in the tropics.

Not acceptable, haven't they heard that they must conform to OUR idea of what is right and okay.

I mean damn we are trying to bring the world up to speed as soon as we can, who cares if we are like the 23rd happiest nation on Earth, be like us NOW.

I wear gloves year round, only because I have to, especially in the summer because it is to freakin hot not to.

10 days at 110 deg.F, 6 days at 112 deg.F, a couple days at 114 deg.F, and last but not least a record breaking of 115 deg.F. This week it has been the normal 106 deg.F. The paper said another heat wave for the coming week. The humidity was about 4%

Can you say pizza oven! But it is a dry heat.

You guessed it folks, the Phoenix AZ area.

You wear gloves year-round, I don't.
I sure as hell won't be criticizing your choice of gear, and would not expect the same form you.

I really like wearing my ski gloves on the Buell when the temp is below freezing, esp. when it's below 0 f.

that dry heat almost caused me and the wife to pass out on our way back from sturgis back in 01. it was everything that we could do to find a hotel room and pass out in the a/c when we finally got to phoenix. i'll stick with the high humidity heat in florida.

The irony is that the motor sandal probably affords significantly more rider protection than the woven grass and leather strap most of the potential market currently wears in the first place.

That isn't my intention, I was making a joke about the heat we have been having lately. And the fact that handle bars get really hot in the sun, not to mention the seat.

Like you, I wouldn't criticize anyone for the gear they wear. My main concern is what I am comfortable with.

I tell myself all the time that I don't care what gear anyone else wears. I am not the gear police and each person should be free to make up their own minds. Then on the way to the gym today I see a guy in shorts, tank top, boat shoes and no helmet riding an R1. Not a kid either. Plus, his rear tire was worn through to the cords in the center. I had to tell myself again not to pay any attention to it, not my business. Then as I walk in the gym still wearing my jacket, the lady behind the desk said, "Isn't that jacket hot?"

Well, it is Florida, and just being outside is hot, but I told her I was partial to my skin and didn't mind the jacket too much while I was moving. She goes on to tell me that another lady that works their is married to a guy that has road rash so bad they thought he might die. She has to continually change his bandages and it is horrible. And her husband wont wear any gear either, but he is so hard headed he won't listen to anything.

So, while I try not to care, these stories bother me. I hate to know someone is suffering in ways that were at least partially preventable. I do believe we should all be able to make our own decisions about the gear we wear, and I didn't used to wear as much as I do now. I am afraid I am turning into someone like one of those reformed smokers who was able to quit and looks down on everyone else who still smokes.

Going back to sleep now.

I wear gloves just because years ago I had a slow speed wreck and instinctively the first thing you do is put your hands out to protect yourself. I had some cheap gloves and it shreaded them to the liner but my hands were alright. First thing I did was to buy some nice thick gloves and wear 'em year round. But I agree, wear what you want, that's why I was glad they repealed the helmet law in Ky. I always wear one but I want the choice not the ultimatum.

"Isn't that jacket hot?"

I get asked that a lot in Georgia. Instead of the "It's not so bad when I'm moving" answer I use to give all time, I just started making stuff up...

"It's refigerated... I'm actually a little too cold right now".

"It's cooled by solar energy... NASA stuff. It cost more than my bike".

"Yeah, I'm hot... but I'm still cooler than you are."

"It's against the law for me to ride without protection at all times because my work is so important to national security."

"It was cold where I started riding this morning... where exactly am I right now?"

"The zipper is stuck. I haven't been able to take the jacket off since this spring."

"Am I hot? I don't know, but you're not so bad looking yourself."

"The jacket's full of popsicles... I'm here to get more."

"I have a gland problem."

"I need the jacket because I'm in a gang and these are our colors."

"No I'm not hot, I'm fabulous."

"I killed the last man that asked me that."

What about the old Ford Anglia's, very European inspired indeed. Sorry to go off topic.

Whoops, hang on I am going to get on a soapbox for a minute . I went for a nice leisurely ride around the lake yesterday, got home and then went back out. On my way back out, about a mile from home I pass a guy on a yellow bike of Asian descent (the bike, not the guy) and he was running in my best guesstimate about 65 mph with absolutely no eye protection. You can leave everything else at the house and it is no skin off my back but when you can't see where you are aiming because your eyes are so blurred then you put me and my family at risk. That is BS! The guy was squinting so hard I questioned whether or not he even had his eyes open, but he did wave so he must have seen something coming at him. Flame on Wayne, Flame on Garth.

LOL, nope he was good 'ol Kentucky Redneck.

About those Anglia's, the earlier ones were more European looking than the later ones. I believe they were first made around '47 or '48 and up until the early '60's but I'd have to check. I see alot of them at the NSRA event in Louisville where everything is pre-'49. Some people shoehorn big V8's in those tiny cars, rather impressive.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Anglia

'39 to '67, wow I had no idea they had such a run. These things are pretty rare around these parts.

I'd be curious to know if they're footwear choices are also limited by their religious affiliation.

Hey, we can argue about SNELL/DOT turbines too!

My buddy Patrick McGinley on his ride from Glendale to Fort Worth to settle the terms of a bet: Ride it to FtW, you get $2K, do it in a bunny suit, you get the $2K plus the title to the Scarabeo. He is a cameraman between gigs, his Dad (chase vehicle) is retired.

Patrick was much more sober than the guy who made the bet at the time in front of witnesses and now has a Scarabeo as his pitbike. (Of course only $2K doesn't go very far in racing.)

If I saw a guy in a white bunny suit, riding a scooter down the freeway, I would have to question my current level of sobriety, or maybe the need to up the medication! On a slow day at the local news, that would get a lead in story I am sure. "And now in traffic, the big white bunny is causing a delay through the Renton S curves..." (you local guys know that is all it takes to snarl traffic ~ some guy in a bunny suit out for a putt)

That is too much, but it does leave me wondering who had the bunny suit and MAYBE why. Guess it could be a rental, that would be pretty funny in itself.

Renting the suit, leaving it on after the test fit in the shop. And merrily bounding on your way only to take off on a scooter leaving the rental people thinking WTF.

One cracked out Easter Bunny. Or maybe a meth-bunny.

I hear there is a halloween run coming up... A band of rabid bunnies on Buells (or scooters) would certainly terrorize the local roadways.

Note to self: Things to do in October, buy one MADASS, Rent One Bunny Suit, Get your motor running....

back when the 83 was still running, we went to the hospital halloween party where the wife used to work. it was the same night as quavaween down in ibor city outside of tampa. i had a full rabit suit on and my wife was dressed up as pirate wench. we ended up behind this black family with kids in the back seat. they turned around and the looks on their face was priceless. it was still when you had to have a helmet and at the time i road with the little brain bucket which was stuffed under the rabit head. i still don't know why the cop didn't pull me over to see if i was wearing one. don't know if i got pitcher's of that one but when i get back home next time i'll have to get the picks of the werewolf days.
