I have a slight chance of being able to make it to homecoming and the 25th. Nothing has been firmed out. I dont want to get my hopes too high, but my bags are already packed .... I will have to bomb in, do the events and motor back out. (not the way I would like to do it) Any body know of any decent campgrounds around there that might still be available?

I just got a room at the host hotel. Didn't get the "Buell rate", it ended on the 19th (nice of them to publish that...) but we got a 139 rate on a "deluxe king" room, whatever that means. <shrug> Serves me right for waiting to the last minute, lol.

$139??? I asked for Tuesday night at the host hotel and they said it wasn't part of the reduced Buell rate and then quoted me $179.

If you go online to the Motel 6 site, they list a room for $52.99/night at the West Brookfield Inn (I-94 at Bluemound Rd, exit #297) That seems a whole lot more palatable than $179, or even $139.
We're staying in Racine at the Super 8 on Monday and Tuesday (the 30th & 1st) before moving on to the Sheraton, and we're paying $59.00/night.
The Sheraton is a nicer motel, but I'm not sure if it's more than 2X the price nicer.

Tell that to my wife.

Personally I'd be ticked pink to be in someone's back yard with a tent set up between my Dodge 2500 (she won't ride on the bike to get there) and my S2. In a truly ideal situation, it would just be me, a tent, and my S2...but dainty-heiney has to have a/c and a truck for the trip and she swears she wants to go with me
....

We ran in to a couple of closed/high water roads when creating the route from the host hotel to the Buell factory this past weekend. Good thing homecoming wasn't a month earlier, or we'd have a far more boring route.

And I can just hear Cityxslicker saying, "Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads."(in his best Doc Brown voice) : )

This thing needs 1.2 jiggawhatz to run off road better and really sling some serious mud. Join us now in "Back OFF the Pavement!" The epic adventure of getting back to the roots of cycling, before pavement, before the quickie burger mart, yes even before cell phones....

I wish I could get paid for something like what Alton Brown Does on his Feasting on Asphalt show, except, all dirt, no pavement, no franchises, no hotels, camping where ever possible, and road grub as it happens. "Dining on Dirt" ; )
