I was planning on doing a Blast trike with an ATV rear diff, but I rode a three wheeler and I'm not a fan...

Jackie and I were talking about getting a touring-ish bike for us, but after Wolfridgerider's Blast hack, we started discussing side cars. Due to the engine mounting on an XB, I can't have my 100 horsepower sidecar rig. I've talked to a few places and they said that most bike will handle a sidecar just fine. I'm curious though, would an 883 be enough bike for cruising at 70mph? Long distance riding, etc? Would I be better served getting a Dyna?

No reason to stray from the Buell fold in search of the perfect side hack.

Here is my official announcement of the Buell Ulysses side car outfit, which I made in November 2005. Evidently my confidential source in Buell was a bit premature, as the model was never produced. Don't know why exactly.

Another, more modern approach is the German Sauer Buell outfit with custom front fork:

I've got a hack on my Kawi W650 and it pulls to 70-75mph depending on wind and slope. That's a bike with mid-30's in HP and torque.

(Don't know the exact power ratings -- if I was worried aboot that, I sure as hell wouldn't own a W650... )

Anyhoo, you don't REAAAAALLLLY want to have a hack going much faster than that anyways.....

old bmw K bikes make good, and reasonably cheap hack haulers - I've got an '85 K100RT that I've been thinking of adding a hack to so I can haul my kids along.

decent power, good sized fuel tank, good aerodynamics/wind coverage, heavy enough that the hack doesnt effect handling too adversely ... and because its all been done before, parts, and complete kits are easy to find.

That was my logic in the 883. I'd like to find an 883R for the dual discs and higher suspension and then do a Buell top end in the spring

how do you pronounce Dnepr?

"Nep-er"?, D-nep-er

drop it from a copter, from your descriptions I did not think you could lift it from a copter. }
