I'M HERE!

I've been out of the loop. I don't know whether it was the ugly start to the season (with a rained out MB5) or what... but I just have been down and out. I still ride to work and school just about every day, but no real 'rides' so far. We're getting the house ready to sell, and it needs A LOT of work... and I have a car project that's taking every second of my free time (the girlfriend doesn't like that too much).

But the bikes just getting on my nerves. While the thing is so much fun to ride, I justified the work it needed for the first year I owned it, now it's getting a bit annoying. It seems like every time I go for a long ride, I come back to find something that needs repairs. Right now it still needs the rear rocker gaskets, I believe at least 1 isolator is going. It vibrated so much that the horn bracket snapped in half, and the tail section snapped a tab off. Also the battery died, but I already replaced that.

The other project:

It's a 1988 VW Cabriolet. 1.8L automatic, with unknown mileage.

Bought it barely running a few weeks ago. I've now gone through the motor replacing everything rubber, and updating all the gaskets. I've also replaced all the filters and flushed the fluids. It's running absolutely perfect! (knock on wood)

We found a new top for it (in black, it'll look much better) for an incredible $60 from a convertible top warehouse going out of business.

Its been a pretty enjoyable project, and the thing is a blast to drive!

BTW, if it were for me, it'd HAVE to be a 5-speed, but it's for my brother for college, so it had to be an auto.

I need to get motivated to sit down with the bike and sort it all out. It'll probably take a day to get it back together and cleaned all up. (once we get closer to the inside pass event I'm sure I will get motivated)

On a side note, I stiffened the shock up quite a bit for MB5, and haven't softened it back down. The roads around here beat me up, BUT I've noticed it'll now pull the front wheel up with just the throttle through first gear! It never did that before with the soft suspension.

That picture of your Buell seems to look smaller somehow...
