I have a habit of googling "Motorcycle accidents" at least once a week to check the headlines. I use it as a tool of self restraint and awareness of the world around me when I am not in the saddle. I am disturbed to see more and more a alarming amount of these accidents being of the "single vehicle" variety. Folks , PLEASE , PLEASE take care of yourselves and keep your heads out there. "Apparently lost control of his/her motorcycle" is not something I could bear seeing posted as an epitaph for one of us. Randy  | ||

It's too easy (Atlanta area) to get a license. While that is a problem, there is a bigger problem here in Georgia. You have to have insurance to get a license tag, but you don't have to have a license to get insurance. So there are many here that ride without even the least bit of training. I was talking with a Police Officer the other day. He said that more often than not the motorcyclists he's had to deal with don't have the proper endorsement. Add to that the number of new motorcyclists due to gas prices... | ||

I promise it'll take at least one four-wheeled vehicle to put me in the ground. ...doesn't really make ya feel any better, does it? Come to think of it, that doesn't really make me feel any better, either. I promise I'll die in bed of a heart attack due to spectacular sex with my 22-year old supermodel wife in about fifty years or so. ...MUCH better.  | ||

I almost hit a car yesterday weaving through traffic. Hauling ass I was forced to do the longest stoppie of my life slowing down and barely squeezed though the mess of cars. Today I hit a curb at high speed and went down...possibly distracted by a couple of hot teenage girls while looking for a pocket in traffic... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . On my bicycle!  | ||

The first thing I look for when I'm ogling other women is a flaw. So if my wife catches me looking, I have something to say like "I think that girl has some upper lip hair" or "her eyes are crooked" or "one of her boobs is bigger than the other..." It's worked for me for a while, though I think subconsciously my wife has now trained me to see flaws in all other women.  | ||

I got stopped this am on my way into work...."Was I speeding?" "No,because of your LP bracket, I couldn't see the reg sticker and your bike seemed on the "loud side"." I was getting stopped no matter what. The decal is maybe 1/4 behind the bracket, but more than visible to see the color and year. I run the Buell race can and don't think it's crazy loud, but oh well, I don't blame LEO's for doing their job. No tickets and after he saw my license, I was on my way. I do not think we can blame the system if you do not know after 5 seconds your bike is faster and more nimble than anything on 4 wheels in traffic no school will be able to teach you it either. I wrecked several things being an idiot and I have been riding for 30 years.We all make mistake and I take good warning in what Lantern posted keep YOURSELF in check. It is up to us to behave not the system to tell us.We all make mistake and I more than alot but I can't blame motor vehicle or motorcycle companies for faster bikes either . | ||

It's too easy (Atlanta area) to get a license. Same thing in FLA. Before July of this year, as long as you could weave through some cones, turn the bike sharp to the left and do a figure 8 without putting your foot down you've passed. As of July you have to take a Rider's Edge type class. | ||

It's too easy (Atlanta area) to get a license. In Columbus, Georgia, my riding test was just following an instructor who was giving a driving test to someone else. He said he'd keep an 'eye' on me and 'kill two birds with one stone'. That was way back in the summer of 1978. I hope they don't do that anymore. | ||

Same thing in FLA. Before July of this year, as long as you could weave through some cones, turn the bike sharp to the left and do a figure 8 without putting your foot down you've passed. Pretty much as here, Georgia. North Carolina was a bit more difficult, but not by much. | ||
