I'm coming to Milwaukee on Friday. Not sure where I'm staying, need to find a hotel by the dealership as I plan on being on site by 7am to start setting up the course.
I want to get there Friday afternoon to check out the timing equipment and make sure that everything is working. I hate last minute surprises!
I haven't decided which bike to ride out, both have advantages. Hmmmmmm FLHT for carrying stuff and comfort, cruise the 4 lane to get there or the XB9R and take less stuff, go across 11 to Beloit and have some fun on the way there. Decisions, decisions.

Ride to the edge!

I sent Nevco an email since I think he lives close to the dealership? Waiting for his reply about what's close by. If I don't hear anything I'll give you a call Mike.
Thanks

Ride to the edge!

The apartment we're moving out of is 3 blocks from the dealership. About 5 minutes east just south of Mequon Road on Port Washington road there are several motels in Mequon. Heading north from Thiensville there is Cedarburg and Grafton with a variety of motels or hotels about 5-15 minutes from the dealership. On hwy-32 on the diagonal into Port Washington (near our new residence) there is a little roadside motel about 15-20 minutes from the dealership. West of Thiensville about 10-15 minutes is Germantown and Menomonee Falls and a wider assortment of hotels and motels. You probably don't want to go to one of the places south of the dealership that is closer than 10-15 minutes.
Nevco is down in Brookfield about 15-25 minutes away and there are many nice hotels and motels down around there.
See what Bill finds for you, or one of us will help you find a place.

Dave,

I'm about 30 miles from the dealership(near Bill), but you and the mrs. and whoever else are welcome to stay with us. I am free Friday night(read that as my wife is working) so if you need a hand or anything let me know. Or if dinner is in order, the first round of diet pepsi's is on me.

Jerry

Hey6 Dana,
I live on 6 mile road and a couple blocks off Lake Michigan. Nice little subdivision, been living there for 12 years.

Maybe it would be nice to hook up and go for a ride. One of my friends in Kenosha who rides a black M2 will meet me out at Mars Cheese Castle if he don't have to work. I'm always looking for someone to ride with.

Tomorrow I might go check out Great Lakes Drageway because there is a film crew going to be there doing some kind of street fighter documentary or something like that. Visit www.greatlakesdragaway.com for more details.

Mike, as far as warming up my new tires, I'm not sure about any rating or what it would mean. but I work with a younger kid who rides a Honda CBR 600 and he has been wanting me to do a track day with him. Well I know the tires will work for that but I'm not sure about B-trax.

I watched e-bay and bought a rear wheel with disc and pulley. Then found a front which happened to match color to the rear, grey in color, and they don't look all that out of place. The rear cost 225 and the front cost 95. Ebay, it all depends on who is watching and when the auction ends.

Well gotta run.

Bill should be out riding his X1 right now. I dropped him off at Hals about 2:30 or so. And he is still a good cruise away from suburban.

Dave...I suggest either taking Jerry up on his offer or coordinating with MikeJ. Mike knows the area very well and can be of much better assistance.

Heck, earlier in the week, Mike had to post directions for me to find Thiensville. I haven't been there since around 1956 and was too young to remember. Is a nice place, but not exactly where one would go to party! LOL

Hey Bill, you called me an "outrider". I'm showing my lack of knowledge here, is that someone who does not belong to any group or club?

Shane...Good Guess! See ya Saturday.

I thought of your "standing offer" but I want to be closer than that if I am to be there at 6-7am in the morning. Thanks Anyway.

I figure I'll just get a room by I43 when I get to town Friday afternoon.

Ride to the edge!

I wanted to park in the street, but there are signs all over about no parking:(

BTW..I picked up the new valve cover gaskets & will have em installed shortly. Hopefully no more diarrhea:D

The clubs worked great...once I missed the first 5 swings. Havent picked up a club in 10 years so it felt weird. But after about a half bucket of balls I was hitting em pretty good. Tended to slice just a bit but I can correct that. Was hitting the 1 wood about 250, the 3 was just a tad less. Actually did pretty good with the irons too. Was nailing the 9 iron about 110:D Didnt really put a lot of power into my swing...dont want to screw my back up..its still a little tender. Going to hit the range again tomorrow & friday before work. These clubs are sooooo much better than the junk I have. Cant thank you enough.

Is the X1 running good? Hopefully it didnt take too long at Hals & you were able to get some riding in.

500 miles?? Geeeeezzzz, thats more than you put on the old bike in the last 2 years. Hows your ass:D

Now ride it up to thiensville. Its not that far, maybe 55-60 miles from your place. Compete in B-trax, take pics & report back. Thats an order youngster!!:)

Its time you learned that bikes are for riding, not polishing.

These clubs are sooooo much better than the junk I have. Cant thank you enough.

They better. I gave you the Custom woods and Calaway irons. Slow down your swing and let the irons do the work. Play one club less until you get the feel. Oh hell, you will figure it out. LOL

Just kidding about your truck. Should have the mess cleaned up early today. Have a few other spots where the Buell puked and I need to clean them up too.

Next time just park east of the driveway. My dad had the No Parking signs posted to keep the lazy soccer mom's from ruining his grass in lieu of using the school's parking lot 200' away. Neighbors liked the idea and got them as well. For all you lurkers, we do not have curbs or sidewalks in this 'burb and the inconsiderate soccer mom's really screw up your lawn especially in the wet spring weather.

Hmmmm...must be a lot like my dad when it comes to messing with people. Oh well, you can always tell a German...but you can't tell him much. LMAO

Yep, the X1 works great! Had a great ride. Had them use Redline Synthetic in both the engine and tranny and it is really smooth. Just have to reprogram my mind to the Head First riding position. }

Daves,
In Germantown there is theAmericInn http://www.americinn.com/display_property.aspx?id=64
and the Country Inn
http://www.countryinns.com/hoteldirectory/hotelbio.jsp?hotelCode=WIGERMAN&origin =Hotel%20Directory&backURI=%2Freservation%2FhotelPreference.do%3FlocationUni%3D6 265%26dno%3D09180309190310

There is road construction on the I-45 overpass for Mequon Road and I'm not sure of the status of which on/off ramps are currently open/closed. But easy enough to get off at the hwy-Q offramp and head north on the side roads. There are also several hotels/motels right around there, like the Super-8 Motel (262) 255-0880 or (800) 800-8000.

Any of these would put you about 10 minutes from Thiensville.

If you want to be off I-43 east of Thiensville I can get you numbers/names of places later today. I also work half-days on Fridays and get off work at 11am if you want a ride-guide for routes to/from where you're staying and Suburban's shop. I'm currently working about 5 minutes from the Pilgrim Road Harley plant off I-45.

You guys are so lucky,

I'd love to ride the battletrax again(this time with good isolators).

Anyone wanna fly me and the bike up, adopt me for a few days, then send back home.

I wonder if I could fit in the crate with the bike to save on airfare - could get damm cold though.

Per Intellicast:

quote:

Friday:
Showers ending in the morning, then partly cloudy in the afternoon. High 66F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
Friday night:
Clear skies. Low 47F. Winds W at 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday:
More sun than clouds. Highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s.

I guess with a tornado east of us and a storm front west of us and the jet stream looping northly above us we can't complain much.
Still looking good for Saturday.

I may just be hoping for that on sat. Havent golfed in 10 years so I may totally suck at it. Wasnt all that good back then either, but I still enjoy it. Makes you respect what the pro's are cabable of by shooting in the upper 60's.

At least with the clubs Bill loaned me I wont look bad:D Maybe I can just be a golf poser for the day? Stand there with nice clubs & look like I know what I am doing.
