I don't care how other people choose to ride as long as it doesn't mess with my trip. You don't want to wear a helmet, be my guest.

I've ridden without a helmet a few times myself. I don't recommend it to anyone though.

"You seem to be very worked up over other people's freedoms, buellinachopshop."

You see very cavalier with those same freedoms. Too bad selfish people like yourself don't understand (or want to understand) that people's actions affect more than just themselves. Ever hear the expression..."freedom isn't free"?

"freedom isn't free"?

Kind of a two edged sword there with that phrase. The cost of freedom is paid to remove restraints that others place upon us, and some see mandatory safety laws as a restraint. I personally don't need someone to tell me that I must wear a helmet, I wear one when I want to which is most of the time, I do this using my own experience as my guide, I don't need a nanny watching over me or some nanny-state telling me what is good for me. Freedom isn't free, sure, but extraneous laws place limits upon freedoms often beyond what is reasonable. Shall we talk about gun laws and contact patches now????? Or to keep this "safety" related, why don't we talk about perforated leathers and Bonneville land speed trials. ; )

Buellinachopshop-
your post makes absolutely no sense.
nice try, though.

who are you, or anyone else, to judge other people's freedoms?
and you call ME selfish, just because I don't choose to join you in the finger-pointing?

you would have been a model soviet

I don't give a $hit what you have on or don't have on when you ride.

I just don't want to be the first on the scene in some cases.

Can you say "Organ Donor"

That is pretty normal around here, shorts and flip-flops are pretty common too.

"freedom isn't free" is a term referring to those who have died defending the freedoms of peoples and fighting oppressive govts. that keep their people down. buellinachopshop you got balls using this term referring to helmetless riders. evidently you haven't heard the term used in the right context or you wouldn't have used it the way you did

I wear Tour Master textile overpants with armor and padding over my slacks and a textile jacket with CE armor in the shoulders, elbows and back and a full face helmet and gloves when I commute or ride.

That's how I feel comfortable.

I know that, should I fall, I have a good chance of feeding myself the next day. That's my choice.

I understand the arguments for requiring helmets and the cost to society of treating head injuries. If we follow that argument, however, there is plenty of reason to outlaw motorcycles all together.

How you dress is your choice. Personally, I just want to dress in leather, ride my machine and not get hassled by the man.

"buellinachopshop you got balls using this term referring to helmetless riders"

I used the term because any freedom people excersize that costs other people, either in terms of money or in pain is a freedom that comes at a cost. Period. "live and let die" is a BS selfish term.

Tramp, you're a worthless human being. take that to the bank of freedom.

WTF Buellin!?

Who the "F" are you to judge people who do/don't wear gear? That is just f'ed up right there!

I judge people only once I know them...Not from a photo....or what they wear...

what is worse....

Having some kid kill himself driving into your vehicle due to him choosing not to wear gear all the time, and making you "feel" guilty

or

Having some yahoo who preaches "Gear" all the time and gets on his bike and speeds through twisties endangering himself and others in the same path?...Hoping NOT to kill himself or others...

Like I am going to believe you don't take risks..EVER and are the perfect "Biker"...

And I use that term VERY loosely!....

Flame On!

Firebolt...let me ask you this. If your wife or gf hit Tramp tonight, he was doing his thing, man thong, flip flops and his bunny ears, she kills him, you wouldn't be pissed because it was possible to avoid killing somebody if they were wearing the right gear? You could honestly say she wont be affected it for years?

I could careless what you wear or don't, but ride UNSELFISHLY, knowing damn well that your choice can/will effect others.

the "live and let die" attitude is what gets me.

Wolfridgerider said he doesn't want to be first on the scene. I don't want to be third either!

I have lived in Florida. I wouldn't ride around the block without a helmet, especially there! You are literally a target for "Blue Hairs" with the left turn-signal on.

My question to bare headed riders would be, how many of you end up in the hospital from being struck in the head by foreign objects? I have hit hard shelled bugs the size of a contac lens case on my face shield, that impacted hard enough that I felt it move my helmet back. Then I had to stop and clean its guts off of the shield so that I could see anything at all.

It seems to me that if it had hit a pair of sunglasses they would have been driven deep into your eye sockets.

Who would ride in love-bug season without a helmet?

Sorry,Buellinachinashop, you argument makes no sense.I always ride with a helmet, but not always with a jacket.Would You feel better if you were in an accident with someone wearing gear and they died?I must be a terrible human being to,because if a motorcyclist hit me that was wearing no gear and died,I would be upset, but I wouldn't feel guilty or lose any sleep.

The more we allow the government to tell us what to do, the more they are going to do it.

Regardless of its impact on society the anti-helmet law people recognize how soon it will be until there are cycle airbags, crash bars, roll cages or even a downright ban on certain types of cycles.

yet another thread on badweb has gone...

If they don't wear gear and end up dead because of it...we can read their story in the Darwin Awards.

The great thing about our country...Freedom of expression...

The worst thing about the internet...Freedom of expression...without actual interaction...

Lets get back on topic...what do you think about when you see this picture???...enough of the bashing crap!
