I get home tonight and noticed that someone has stolen the DarkHorse Moto license plate bracket and my plate off my bike! I am absolutely f'ing mystified by how they did it. I have chrome allen head bolts and nylon lock nuts under the seat. The nuts were found loose in the tray after I took the seat off. So now I'm out the bracket, $15 in powder coating, and 5 bucks of chrome hardware, plus a new tag! It had to be another Buell rider, who else would even care? There are several new Buells in town so I pray I see one with it. Maybe we can meet

Sorry to rant just can't believe how screwed up some people are.

Happened to a guy I work with. Brand new Kawi...pulled his plate and custom bracket from a "secure" garage on campus. People don't have respect for others sh!t. They'll flip the b!tch on ebay.

Are you 100% positive that the plate and frame were on the bike when you parked it?

Second question: have you ever taken those nyloc nuts off and reused them?

If you're not 100% positive that the plate was on the bike when you parked it and if you answer yes to #2 then I'd wager your plate and frame are laying in the road someplace.

If I'm guessing wrong then some scum sucker has a surprise coming.

Never taken the plate off since I put it on there last Spring. Never had any reason to! It's just a shame. I'm much more glass half full about it now. I'll buy another and move on. Luck would have it that the tag was due this month anyway, so it's like an extra $15 bucks for a new plate.

if you find him, run him off the road. this person is a total waste of human life. i hate a thief. i serious think that anyone caught stealing or convicted of theft should lose a hand, second offense death. this my seem controversial, but i truly hate scumbags. no excuse for it. rant over.

Not that i see it happening with a bike, to obvious to recognize esp a Buell. But there have been quite a few car plates stolen in my area. They are swiping them, putting them on, filling up at the pump and making a dash. If someone gets the plate number no big deal for them, its not theirs.
Now a lot, if not all stations around my area are "pay before you pump."

Yeah, the plate swap to cover up crime is another aspect. Document this so you have a time and date in case anything starts to appear. Hopefully you've reported it to the police.

I was also thinking that maybe it had vibrated loose and fallen off. But you probably would have noticed it was loose when cleaning the bike so maybe not.

I can't remember when it was not pay first pump gas later here in Miami or Florida in general.

Been that way since at least around 1984 when I started driving. Right after the boat lift arrived, insurance shot up insanely too.

I remember my first trip to Deal's Gap, went to the station, tried to pay first, they looked at me with confusion and said, "but you haven't pumped any gas yet?"

I was amazed....you mean you trust me???

Much lower risk of loss at Deal's with motorcycles.

Motorcycle folks are generally a good bunch as well.

Pump first pay later is the standard thing in Oz.

Was in the Army and were having our cars broken into and our cd's stolen. Camouflaged up and lay in wait with a few mates and got him breaking into my ute(pickup). Slammed his fingers in the door and left him there for 5 hours. Was found by the duty sergeant that morning. Never saw him again and he was kicked out of the Army 1 week later we were told.
