Some pics of Nixon, Springer, Filice at Sears Point a couple weeks ago (Had to leave this AM before I could upload the others) Nixon is mostly managing the Pair-a-Nines team but DOES still race their KAWI too. Nixon still racing.... man- There really is some greater force out there, somewhere. Thank you VERY much, Slaughter. Now I have to cruise amazon for a copy of the Nixon bio-paperback I had when I was a kid- it was called "Racer: The Gary Nixon Story" or something along those lines. Cool shots of nice early tracksters. Wonderful thread- thank you! | ||

Dang Mark - you hang in there - GLAD you got better weather. Keep those rains stored in the cool/dark, they don't last forever. (Did they buy them back at the end of the weekend? Sometimes they will) When I get back tonight, I have a couple pics of Jeff's ladyfriend giving Nixon a big hug. (She aint half bad lookin either) Jeff Ecklund is a flattrack guy who also raced for Bartels in the 883 days with Bostrom, Bostrom, Yates, Zemke, Higbee and Hendley. His late uncle was also a flattracker back in the day. Jeff is a pretty gifted rider. We were practicing at Las Vegas for F-USA and I was thinking I'm going pretty quickly around the big sweeper (T9??) and Jeff comes ripping around the outside of me in a flat-track tuck (left hand behind his back) - just waving to me with his left hand... humbling and embarrassing. Sorry I didn't clarify - Melody "Mel" is Jeff Ecklund's "Significant Other" She's into Kart racing. Jeff is getting back to Karts and maaaayyybe back into flat tracking. He has a Blast-motored (freaking POWERFUL Blaast at that) flat tracker at Bartels... we'll see... He just about lost a foot after a bad recovery/non-healing ankle injury at Willow Springs. Tramp, Get to the Thunderbolt MOTO-ST race (Aug 30) in NJ. You've got no excuses! There are several Buell teams who will likely be glad to accept an extra (experienced) hand, and with pit credentials you could be sharing pit wall space with all of the above-mentioned. I've done 3 so far, an experience not to be missed. |
