I just watched my S3 drive down the street under a new owner tonight. It was like watching an old friend leave for the last time.

In the 63,000mi. that I rode on it I have been to 2 'Thunder in the Mountains' in Colorado, several Homecomings, 2 trips to Arizona, a trip to New England and one to visit Newfie in his province of Newfoundland. Plus quite a few to Northern Minnesota.

It has taken me on countless club rides, many short trips around the Midwest. I have ridden it to work in the rain and wind in the middle of the night.

The best part is that even though it was the dreaded '99 model The only failure that I ever had that left me stranded was when the stator died and I could only get to within 7mi. of home bfore the battery gave out.

Of all the bikes that I have ever owned it has been a pure joy to ride. I guess I'll just have to go on a trip tomorrow to get over it.

Now I'll start the plan to pick up most likely a Uly next year.

I just couldn't afford the insurance on a bike that I wanted to kept for sentimental reasons. Originally I was thinking about an 1125r until I ran across that other deal that was too good to pass up.

But since my neighbor is hot for that bike I will really have to think of a Uly next year for some adventure riding.

Man!!
You'd have to grow attached in 63,000 miles, but I think making the decision to let it go was the best thing. It wouldn't want to sit in the back of the garage watching you ride off on something else every day. I'm sure the new owner was grinning too!! Yeah, ride tomorrow, it'll all get better.

Mike, I know the feeling. When I sold my M2, I felt exactly the same way. However, Yesterday, I saw the guy I sold the M2 to, and he still has it and he still loves it.
When you get a Uly, you're going to fall in love again. It'll be different, but you're really going to enjoy it.

I was torn about what my next bike was going to be. I really liked the idea of a thrill of the 1125r but lately I've been trolling over at ADVrider and would really like to try some of that.

A couple of years ago while riding around southern Colorado I would go past these dirt roads that lead up into the mountains. My adventuresome spirit would tell me that I should see where that road goes. But knowing that I was on a sport bike (especially the 740# ST1300) that it was best to stay on the road.

Now with my youngest out of high-school I am hoping that next summer will free up some time for travel. I get tired of always having to rush here and there because of schedules. I'm ready to slow down a little and just enjoy life.
