The plan is for June 7 and 8. The following weekend is Father's day and Laconia. The next weekend is Homecoming.I know it's the tail end of Americade. I figured Lake Sacandaga was far enough away, maybe not. When we nail down a location, We can check into cabins and campgrounds. A bunch of us are bringing family so feel free, double bonus points. The ideal campground has tent camping, rv and cabins with a fire pit. Input needed. No douche canoes allowed. |

Looked at the map. The lakes are to close. I'm sure we would run into the Americade crowd. Can anyone suggest a better remote area? around a ski resort perhaps? |

Hunter mountain would probably work |

If you are going near hunter, you have Route 23a through palenville, up along the kaaterskill falls falls. Which is a wicked set of twisties. But hunter is technically the catskills You could also look at going further west from sacadanga, perhaps around Stoner Lakes which is right on Rt 10, which has some decent twisties up that way as well, and should be far enough away from the Americade crowd (which I have found to not be too too bad once you get a couple miles away from Lake George, as they tend to spread out pretty well). But I cannot attest to the camping as I live 40 minutes or so from Lake George so never stay over. |

damnut: I'm down with Stoner Lake... Kinda the reason I included it. I thought it was funny when you come up on the Stoner Lake signs. But RT 10 is pretty nice up that way regardless... |

One of the funniest signs I saw was on my way to Detroit, I think it said Stoney Road RT 420. |

"I'm down with Stoner Lake" I wonder how many of those "Stoner Lake" signs have to be replaced every year. I can see it hanging over a basement hot-tub or tub in a ratty college apartment. Bill |

Since we're moving the date, I think we should try to stay close to Sacandaga. Prices will be much lower than Lake George, and we're still far enough east to have easy access to Vermont, which has some great roads as well (Rt.2 and Rt. 100 are fantastic). Not to mention the road around the northern part of Sacandaga which is pretty epic - not compared to Suches or anything, but still really good. I have a concert to go to on June 21st, so Sat night I won't be able to be there. But aside from that it works for me. Should be a good get together. |

I found a place by Indian Lake. The roads are sweet! http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=Indian+Lake,+N Y,+USA&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&resnum =1&ct=title |

The place isn't chic friendly. Everything is still up in the air except for the date. Feel free to post links to rental spots in one of the two areas. |

Nice choice, Rich. I think I've ridden parts of rt. 30 there - good road, lots of big sweepers. I *think* I took these at the southern end of Indian lake last year - if not, it was some other lake in the Adirondaks, lol

The riding up that way is good, but it's not the tight turns that I have a feeling we're all looking for. Very pretty and scenic, but not super curvy and exciting. I'm going to study some maps and set some routes up in my GPS and go re-explore up there. |

I rented a cabin on Great Sacandaga lake. It's actually three condos under one roof. The condo I rented is called Bears den. Moose and Wolf condos are two bedrooms each and are available. It's very private on 19 acres with fire pits, lake accsess and other stuff. This location works well because they ride and don't care about who sleeps where. There should be plenty of camping or floor space available. It's located on the SSW side of the lake near a town called Fishhouse. There is plenty of stuff for the chics too. here's a link:http://www.adrk-escape.com/ |

The main cabin and one small cabin have been booked. This leaves one small cabin with 2 bedrooms available. $200 a night. plus an area for tents. |

How are you working sleeping arrangements? Sounds like we're good with people putting sleeping bags on the floor or crashing on a couch or something. What are the check-in check-out times like? Are we getting there Fri evening and leaving Sun morning? |

Two of the condos are full except the couches and the floor. One condo is still left. If enough people committed, you could put a security deposit down on the last condo. Checkout is noon on Sunday. I told the lady I was arriving friday night. |

I don't mind crashing on a sofa or floor for a night (I'll only be able to stay Friday night) - is that a possibility? Obviously I'd still kick in for the place. |
