I like it.

Nothing like coming into a decreasing radius turn way too hot to narrow your focus.

If you have trouble getting that to load and run, try this link and then click on the "We Don't Do Fear..." link:

http://www.harley-davidon.com/wcm/Content/Pages/ho me.jsp?locale=en_US

Is it just me or doesn't it seem that some of the H-D advertising campaigns are aimed at all of us bad-assed tough guys?

I'm sorry, but his voice was just a shade too high, & not deep & manly enough to be a proper biker, probably his dealer sold him the wrong size underpants!

Buell gives out hydration packs, H-D gives out bandanas.

There's a joke in there somewhere . . .

I can't believe this worked:

Not a photoshop, it's really on their site. Click on the "view the rally cries" link, select North Carolina, then look for the posting by Average HDer.

Apologies in advance, it was meant in good humor.

They're just ASKING for it!

I was debating putting something up about do-rags, tasseled bars, buttless chaps and manly men doing manly things among manly men (but lost my courage - not manly enough I suppose).

Any questions as to why the "Owners Chat" area disappeared from www.buell.com so quickly or why there is no e-mail address to contact Buell officially?

Nothing to do with "thin skin". . . more to do with the American Tort system that awards someone who gets shit faced drunk and rides a motorcycle into a wall a $9,000,000 judgement.

Facts of life.

By the way . . . that's some seriously funny shit. . . that ranks right up there with the letter Customer Service wrote with the misplaced "not" something like "we sincerly hope you remain not satisfied with your Harley-Davidson purchase" and the letter that Ferris got from the State of California in which they had California or something spelled wrong on the envelope.

HD is going to go through some VERY interesting times the next 36 months.

Riddle me this . . . if you worked for a company that just reported $186,000,000 PROFIT and, in the same quarter, laid off 6% of the union work force and 10% of the management work force . . how would you predict loyalty would rank on a 1 1- 10 scale? That is dropping your cargo at the first sign of an Imperial Fighter.

Many of the folks remaining are paralyzed with fear, myoptic and committed to keep doing what we've done that got us here. Not a hot bed of innovation. Witness what they've done with the poor XR1200.

I've heard it said my many people:
"having Harley-Davidson on your resume always looks good".

I think the next 3-6 months will set the tone for the next 36 months.

...and the letter that Ferris got from the State of California in which they had California or something spelled wrong on the envelope.

it was actually the license plate for my previously "illegal immigrant" V-Strom from the California Departament (x 2) of Motor Vehicles:

...and one assumes the same folks who stamped the plate were also responsible for the too speling errors:

I think the next 3-6 months will set the tone for the next 36 months.

Mike, i think that statement applies to the whole country and not just Harley-Davidson.

HD is actually has some style to thier bikes now. The V-rod has improved. And now the 1125r. I'd say they are doing ok. HD is a name and an image.

.52 is more sarcastic. To account for every second he has been ridding? Should have added hours spent polishing chrome and buying parts verses riding the bike.

Now that I've had a little time to think about it, I really do need to issue a serious apology for my stunt.

I know a fair amount of Harley owners, some of whom are HOG members, that take riding seriously. They put on big miles and aside from that are just plain nice people. I'd hate for any of them to read the post above and get the wrong idea. I saw an opportunity to poke fun at an HD stereotype and jumped on it. I really do hope I didn't offend anyone.

It's just good fun. I think anybody who reads it will see that. If they don't then they just take things too seriously.

edit: I'm a sometime HD owner and HOG members as well.

Spike, i'm a Harley rider who takes riding seriously, and i think your "stunt" above is comical. :-)

hey, any of you wanna talk stereotypes? i get a kick out of observing sportbike riders (many of them Buell riders, by the way) with every bit of CF known to man hanging off their bike, high-buck/high-zoot riding gear including sliders, clip-ons, rear-sets, every indication that they're the next coming of Nicky Hayden, and tires with chicken strips a mile wide.

what's even MORE funny is watching these "professional" sportbike riders trying to execute a u-turn without paddling their feet like they're just learning how to ride a Big Wheel for the very first time.

yep, stereotypes are an effin' riot.

:-)

its because its a drop and fill template, you have a blank and then it goes back to formatted text at years.... Like they would let you type what ever you want on the corporate site : O have you read some of the other ones ?!? A couple of people have some very anti Bush things to say on the HD website.
Whilest reading anything on the net, be sure to grow a nice thick skin.

Then again, I get a kick out of watching Mikethebike roll through like some sort of deranged Santa Claus with his modular flipped up enjoying a smoke while leaned over to the extent that he is sucking the chicken strips off OTHER people's bikes as he goes by.

I learned at Barber that just because you can buy a full set of leathers it doesn't mean you can ride.

I shoulda offered $100 to the guy riding the Dyna Glide around the track for his leathers. He wasn't really "using" his. : D}
