I call that the mess with the newbie thing. I don't like it.

If you want them to play with you, Don't hand them a .44 Magnum the first time! Teaching them respect for weapons is easy enough to do by having them shoot a pop bottle full of water at easy close ( splash zone ) range. Depending on attitude & upbringing, the following lecture can run from "these things can kill, so we will be careful, right?" to "that could be blood" ( for the military brats )

It's a pet peeve of mine.

I'm a Marshal ( ref/instructor ) in SCA martial arts, and hitting too hard too early really discourages folk from wanting to play anymore. I teach a lot of Lady Warriors, and once they understand that hitting back is good, they can be moved up the calibration scale at their own pace. ( and woe to the attempted mugger with some of these Ladies )

One of my buddies has one of those. Even though I was expecting some kick, it was surprising how much kick it really had. His revolver was worse though.

Not sure if there was another round in there, but with a 3 pound trigger, she's lucky she didn't take the top of her head off when the gun recoiled into her face.

The guy should be slapped. But that's a peashooter.

The AutoMag .44 or .357 was much worse. It had so much mass moving backwards while the bullet was still in the barrel, that it really reared up when the slide hit the stops. And it would hammer you on the top of the forearms with the ends of the slide.

The Automags unlocked with considerable pressure in the chamber and not all the powder burned yet. I made some .44 and .357 Automag ammo for a gun collector once (to the tune of about $2 a round) and did all my test firing just at dusk so I could better see how much of a fireball I got when the chamber vented. By the time you had enough power to cycle the action reliably, you would get a large softball to volley ball sized fire ball from the chamber and a lot of muzzle flash.

Interesting gun but it had some issues...

that guy is an idiot. That is definately a firearm you have to work up to. having owned 2 desert eagles in the past one .44 mag, the other .357 mag i really like shooting hot loads in them better than my revolvers. the recoil is different, but easier to control. A ruger super black hawk with comparable loads was almost uncontrollable and hurt my hands. My super redhawk was better. I 2nd what jackbequick posted about the automags

Actually what Johnnylunchbox said really did happen about 4 years ago or so. Some drinking buddies amused themselves by letting a boy fire their S&W 500 revolver. I don't remember if he was 12 or 14 years old, but it all ended when the bigass revolver recoiled right into his head. I didn't believe it at first, but it was not an internet rumor. His funeral made their local paper, he really died, from a recoiling pistol. I think the grownups were charged with something minor, I don't know if they did time or not.
So these things are not always amusing.

He sure should be and it sure is.

I've got a 460XVR that my wife can shoot -- the 460 is a monster handgun FWIW -- comfortably and if you wait until the sun goes down it's makes a beautiful muzzle blast. The muzzle flash actually rivals my old 7.62x54 Mosin-Nagant.

WHAT is wrong with that guy? Why ANYONE would let something like that happen is beyond me. That girl is SO lucky.....

I grew up with guns. My Dad was in the Service, and was an excellent marksman, and still is, at 80. One of my most vivid childhood memories is of my Mom at the local trap club, picking off clay pigeons, one after another, WITH A .22! I made decent pocket money when I was a kid, picking off varmints with a .22 at the farms surrounding our suburban outcropping, as the oldtimers living out there saw no reason to be setting out poison when there was a kid willing to do the job. My girlfriend did that job herself on the farm SHE grew up on. My daughter was a Rifle Instructor by the time she was a 14 year old cadet in the Royal Canadian Air Cadet Corps. Guns are neither Good, nor Evil. From guns, I learned patience, discipline, and the ability to focus, and shut out any distractions while doing it. Those, if I may say so, are pretty damn handy life skills.

People are going to see this video, and get one more neural connection made between "Gun", and "F*cking Idiot". Which takes just a little more credibility out of the premise of "Responsible Gun Ownership", as viewed by the average citizen.

As for the girl in the video, I really hope that someone is able to show her that mastering a gun can be a fun and enjoyable hobby. It's true, it's not the arrow, it's the Indian.

I have to agree with Strato9r on the first one. Osamabama or Clinton will be using that clip when they revoke our 2nd amendment rights.

The fat guy with the cannon however was just freaking funny.

I would say that most of you will think I'm a A$$HOLE for this but it makes me laugh every time I think about it.

Back when I was 13 or 14 or 15....
My cousin was joining the Army and had never fired a riffle.
I told her she could put a few rounds down range with my bolt action 8MM Mauser.
I told her to hold it about a 1 to 2 inches from her shoulder......
It was priceless.... 30 years later I still giggle about that one....

Remind me to tell ya about the time I scared my mom so bad she wet her pants....
I think I'll remind her about that this Sunday.

I had an uncle who was a gunsmith. He gave me 50 cal muzzle loader and told me it was a 'BB gun'. When I was 7.... I think my should is still bruised....

I'll never forget showing one of my girlfriend's how to shoot. We were shooting clay and she wanted to try a shotgun. After trying to talk her out of it, she fired one with a full choke insert and never asked again...
