looks like a scam

http://dallas.craigslist.org/mcy/644545964.html

Hi ,
The bike is in great condition, it has been properly maintained, never been dropped or abused in any way. It has clear title and the price I'm selling it for is $2980.
I live in Dallas but currently I am with work in Italy, Milano for the next approximately 3 months. Anyway, there shouldn`t be any problem, because I`m using a Third-Party Company so I can sell the bike without difficulty.
I left the bike at their warehouse before leaving to the Italy. They will take care of the delivery. There`s a 14-day return policy so you will have the chance to test, inspect and ride it before final decision.
So if you want to purchase it, drop me a line and I will explain you how this Third-Party Company works and how we can move forward.
I am waiting your email.
Thanks

Here's the thing: I have friends in the area - let me know when/where I can do a pre-purchase inspection.

I have yet to get a response to that question. (never hurts to ask)

And in this case, I really DO have friends in the area.

Probably is a scam but I run across a guy here who's a hard core Harley guy/used gar dealer and he knows I ride a Buell and he was in the office the other day asking me about one he ran across at the auction. Seems neither he nor the seller knew much about it and it didn't sell the first time through. The guy told him it could be bought for $3500, but that was before it didn't sell the first time, probably could have gotten it for less when it didn't bring any bids.
After some questions and showing him some pics I deducted it was a orange and grey M2. Really wish I had the cash to get it right now because that would be a heck of a price.

A while back I emailed a craigslist ad in Miami for a 2002 BMW K1200RS for the same $2980. I got the same response word-for-word. I emailed back, told him I was local, wanted to inspect the bike 1st, never heard back. Assumed it was a scam.

$2980 must be deliberate.
I bet if it's over $3000, the Feds get involved.
