It really is criminal to live in the desert and NOT have a couple dirt bikes.

Well - in a reversal of the usual circumstances, Sunny bought her brand new XT225 Yamaha a week ago and gave me TWO orders: 1 - I had TWO WEEKS to get my OWN dirt bike... and 2 - NO, I was NOT GOING to use HER bike as a pit bike!!!

Just got in late last night after throwing a chunk of cash at a DRZ400S that I picked up from a friend-of-a-friend.

Don't have pics of Sunny's XT just yet.

I never knew it'd be possible to cram so many motorcycles and tools into such a small garage. We have a 2 bedroom condo. The right side of the garage has: Honda VF500 (street), VF500 (track), XT225, DRZ400, S3. I was forced to move the rest of the XB racer resurrection into Don's shop and the remainder into the bed of the pickup for storage on Company property (armed guards are kinda nice sometimes) All of the XB rolling chassis and spare front end are at my buddy Earl's place and the Blast motor is in storage (only temporarily)

We do have to get Sunny a non-vintage streetbike in the coming year.

Outstanding.I'd never imagine my wife spouse taking the lead on a motorcycle purchase.

You definitely have a keeper in Sunny.

Congrats...from a Rocket type

The DRZ400 is heavy - the KLX would have been much more the dirt-rocket but it would have cost me almost $2K more.

This will be a just fun bike. It's kinda front heavy but reliable as a stone.

We ride this weekend - but Sunny's less than 50 miles into break-in on the motor so it'll be slow putting around on dirt roads while she starts getting used to the dirt thing.

Fun stuff... really fun stuff.

You have such a rough life. Even better, you have a great wife! Enjoy the bikes and the dirt.

Me and my husband, oops, spouse, are looking forward to taking our new dirt bikes out in the hills. Been out practicing on our property as I have very little dirt bike experience. A little scary but at least I won't be going real fast when I fall down. I have the new KLX 140L and he got the KLX 450 (I think).

My sweet significant other has years of dirt bike riding behind him and he's definitely looking forward to getting back into it.

Enjoy your new bikes!! (and I made him buy these for us too)

Sunny looked really seriously into the Kawi 140L... but we just fell into this XT225. It was registered but never ridden so it had 19 miles and was technically a "used" bike. Still under warranty.

Gonna be fun stuff.

(and Sunny's a keeper.)

>>>>Sunny's a keeper

That's an accurate statement.

The DR-Z400 (long the nemesis of those searching for Dr. Z amplifiers on the internet) is really the gold standard in it's class.

My riding partner . . who has 9 bikes. . .chooses the DR-Z as his primary NYC Combat commuter.

Well done . . . take the wife, leave the Canoli.

BTW, I am pretty happy with the Kenda Trackmaster II tires... they were the clear winner with regards to my highly select criteria...

(1: as close to free as possible.
2: DOT legal
3: Better then I am on the dirt
4: cheap
5: Good enough for the street.
6: inexpensive
7: Good for 3000+ miles
8: low cost
)

: )

Slaughter; if you're looking for sympathy, you'll find it in the Dictionary. Between Sh*t and Syphilis.
If you're trying to make us jealous, it worked. (at least it did with me)
I bet you have a ball on that DRZ.
Congratulations!

Those are some STRONG recommendations for the Kenda!

Oh - and it does look like they meet one of my primary criteria: cheap

Jewels-
I am just itching to get back out to Colorado and ride the back roads and trails.

I have never been as sore in my life the first time I came out to Steamboat Springs to do a Suzuki series ride. After three days of standing on the pegs my legs were so sore that I could hardly walk. There was some single track and stream crossings that were way over this flatlander's head.

Mike, if, and when, you get out this way, give us a call. My first real dirt riding will probably be in an area called Rampart Range which isn't too far from where we live. I told my hubby to make sure he takes me on GREEN runs to start with.

After riding the bike the other day, my legs and arms/shoulders definitely felt it. What a way to get a work out tho!
