Ok so I want to tune both the front and rear cylinder FI of my S3 using ECM SPY. To do this I want/need to add an O2 bung to the front pipe. Are there any considerations as to where it should be installed? Suggestions? Comments? Thanks | ||

Close to the head is where I would put it, up and out of the way. Really anywhere would be ok but that is my .02 It will be ugly but your tune should be SWEET! | ||

It will be ugly that is the obvious spot as that is how the rear one is installed and I would hide it like they do the rear one so it wouldn't be that noticeable. Does it have to be on an angle like the rear one with just the tip protruding into the pipe? I would only have the O2 sensor in it while data logging. I also considered placing it on the backside of the pipe under the air cleaner. I don't know any reasons why the placement would have an effect on the reading, but that is why I posted the question. | ||

I would put it in the same orientation as the rear as possible to eliminate any variables (ie, different temps, different angles, etc.) because repeatability is paramount | ||

What is there to connect the O2 sensor to if you put one in the front pipe? I dont know how the info from the sensor will get to the ecm. If you plug it into the original input will not the ecm think it is the rear cylinder? | ||

I will move the O2 sensor and plug it into the original input for the purpose of data logging for short ride. According to the tuning guide for ECM SPY you data log and tune the rear cylinder and then the front. Switching back and forth 3 times each as it is possible for the tuning of one cylinder to have a small effect on the other. Yes it will think it is the rear cylinder but it won't be any further "out" then the front cylinder is when it is "tuned" of off the reading from the rear cylinder. P.S. If you reset the AFV to 100% and do not run the bike in such a way that it starts to adjust, then you will be running on the same mixture as the last time I rode the back regardless of where the O2 sensor is. Really it is just measuring the oxygen content so position on the circumference wont really matter, but getting the wire hooked up may be a problem if you hide it. | ||
