http://www.dothetest.co.uk/ I think, for the most part anyway, bikers pay more attention to what is going on around them but have seen many people, especially the cell users, not have a clue what is within 100 yards of them. This test will show you there's always something. | ||

Haha Thats good. I didnt actually see the bear but toward the end(while I was intently counting) I thought the black team had too many men on the court. Regardless, its a good lesson for us all. Proves distraction blindness.... | ||

i think its kind of bogus. you're asked to do one task. if they said count the passes and watch for something else, and then didnt see it , it would be failure. but i see the point. | ||

Part of motorcycling is ignoring unrelated distractions, like that girl in hot pants on the sidewalk, that sort of thing. You can be focused on safety and still miss things like billboards, store-window displays, etc. If the 'object under discussion' had stolen a white team pass, or even tried to, we would have seen it, I bet. I passed.. But I didn't realize it was a bear... I thought it was a person, dressed as Smokey from those old forrest fire commercials.. But then again, it's a small space and easy to cover if you're scanning.. The point isn't that they told you to do something else.. The point is that if you had not focused 100% on the ball you would have seen the 'bear' easily and that would have been it. People develop tunnel vision too easily, that's what happens when people drive the cage.. and hit the bike.. a lot of times, they are being honest when they say they didn't see us. We're not 'programmed' into their mindset and they aren't looking for anything outside their little world.. Oh well.. that's my pittance tossed in.. |
