Greetings all, I've been away from the board for quite some time (although I come in and lurk every now and then).

Here's the deal, the 99 M2 is getting a little long in the tooth, and I love the Uly. I'd like to pick one up before summer, but I haven't stepped foot in a "dealership" in years.

Last time I went to Manchester H-D, Dave King had left and what was once the promised land of Buell parts and accessories left with him. Meridith H-D, while they had Dave K., didn't have so much as a Buell T-shirt for sale when I last visited. Don't even get me started on Big Moose H-D.

I know things change over time, sometimes even for the better. My question is who is THE dealer in this area (Southern ME, Central NH)??? Do they all suck, or is there a shining star? Maybe they have all embraced Buell and you can't go wrong with any of them? (I can dream)

I don't really care about the service dept. so much as I do all my own service. I just would like to do business with some one that takes Buell seriously enough to carry some common parts, maybe some accessories, and God help us - maybe even some 3rd party accessories they way Dave K. used to do at Manchester.

Thanks,
JSW

hey john well the bad news is: manch HD sucks, has sucked and will continue to suck...no love for the buells, parts, accessories, or service, and you almost have to fight with them just to purshase one from them.

meredith has gotten a little better as far as their parts dept. and accessories not sure how sales is but they have a good qty. of buells and even feature them just inside the front door. hope that helps..good luck

here's a sample of manch HD i posted about a week ago:

so i did not get a chance to demo any bikes at MB5 because of the weather that saturday and i really wanted to ride an 1125 to see if i would like it or not. so on buell.com my local dealer is listed as a participating demo dealer, i called them today to find out about setting up a demo ride and was told that they would only let me demo it if i agreed to purchase it first...after laughing at the salesman he tried to convince me that they just can't have people stopping by to try bikes for no reason and that it would be different if a current owner asked to demo a bike! when i informed him that i was a current owner of an XB purchased at their dealership he did the signature back pedal and told me i shouldn't need to demo the bike because if i love my XB that the 1125 is even better. this 5 minute conversation reminded me of why i hated the purchase of my buell the first time around!}

I visited Manchester to get my neck gator and spoke with Jake Cohen.
He knows Buells and they had a very decent stock of new and used Buells.
We talked Buells for about 1/2 hour, I sat on an 1125r, bought a 25th anniversary hat and left.
Shawn, do you know what joker you spoke with? If it was Jake then I got the wrong impression....
If it wasn't Jake, I would suggest that any of you ONLY speak with Jake and let him know you are a badwebber and a current owner.

i know jake and he is one of about 2 in there that i can stomach, nice enough guy and a buell rider, but once you've gone past jake as the salesman the rest of the team(salesmanager and such) are very unhelpful...not in the mood to relive my purchase again so i'll leave it at that. the guy i spoke to last week when i was in there was a tool. so once again yes jake is very helpful but he lacks the backing from the rest of the dealership that is needed to get customers in and out and return as happy customers.

Thanks for the name Scott, it's always good to know who to seek out when you walk into a dealership.

So is Dave still at Meridith Shawn?

Anybody else had any good experiences in this corner of the world?

Thanks guys,
JSW

No problem John and my understanding is that Dave is not at Meredith (even when he was I was underwhelmed over some recall work they performed).
Shawn, I here you, but whether it is cars, bikes, insurance, or even just bike parts, if "my guy" isn't there I walk out....
I think it was the sales manager who eyed me like I was shoplifting when I asked for my neck gator! After that I just asked who the "buell guy" was. I would have left if he said they all were, but he pointed me to Jake.
Cute ladyfriend you have there John. If she has any cute friends who like to ride let me know!
