I think you should have put that in the "DAMHIK" thread! : )

Mark - hit and run drivers SUCK! I hope they catch the guy and he has insurance to fix your bike. Glad some good Samaritans stopped to help you.

Take care and keep a pillow handy for those coughs and laughs from BadWeB. They say it helps with the sharp pain from broken ribs. Heal fast and keep us posted.

Be forewarned- SNEEZING SUX with broken ribs!!! I was driving my truck after I'd had a spill, suddenly had a sneeze, and almost ran off the road due to the pain! It was one of those sneezes that just instantaneously happens- no time to think even "this is gonna hurt" and deal with it.

Just be careful, TAKE IT EASY, and let time do its thing. I will say you're being a little soft on the hit & run punk- I'd be compelled to calculate my exact revenge.

My first love, a Suzuki TS125, was totalled by some meat turning left in front of me. It was a Gran Torino- he just looked back and rode off. Got my description of the car whilst flying thru the air. I was wanting to get the bike up off the road and chase the motherF down, but it wasn't to be.

Gosh, that is disappointing to hear. Why are people so darn irresponsible? Glad to hear that you are not seriously maimed and will recover fully. Hang tough.

I second the sneeze thing. Lucky for me, in a similar situation (7 completely broken ribs) my panic at the thought of a sneeze prevented any from occurring until a good year and a half after my crash. I was actually wondering if I'd ever sneeze again.

Sorry to hear the bad news Mark. Take it easy and get well soon. No reason to rush things.

Let the gang know if there is anything we can help you with.

Frank

Thanks Frank, I will. Thanks everyone for all the great support. I am currently waiting for the police to get back to me on my next step. I will certainly prosecute if need be.

be good,

it is now eight days since the hit and run and still no police report to be found. My insurance company wants to wait until they know if the driver of the pick-up was found to get the bike moving forward.

Anyway I finally have gotten fed up with the runaround from the police and the insurance company. I have talked to a lawyer and they are going to handle the situation from here on. Now I feel beat up and smarmy.

I just want my bike back, my medical bills paid and the bad guy in jail.

rant off.

BTW sorry Frank I didn't recognize you at the Seminole Buell Shop today. I sort of had you out of context until I recognized your bike on the way out, then I was too embarrassed to go back in and say hi.

Horse crap! Tell your insurance company to fix the bike now! They can and will recover their loss from the bad guy later, if he is found of course. By the time they get it in and do their estimate, get approvals, order parts and actually fix it you will be beyond healed up. I hate to see that you have to use a lawyer to get your own company to start, that sucks.

Insurance companies don't make money by paying claims...

I had a similar incident in my Mustang. I was hit by a driver who didn't have insurance. She was cited and it took three months to get anything done.

Once, I had a drunk guy lock his doors and literally run away. Different story for another day....
