Shred:

Call Bumpus H-D/ Buell 615-849-8025 and talk with Tom Bumpus (Owner) or Dave Sinclair and see if they can help you. From what I hear this Inside Pass is mostly being sponsered by Bumpus H-D Buell.

Neil S.
FWIW, that's where I bought my 1125r, Dave was my salesman and a fellow Buell rider, so is Tom.

Neil,

Tom is tapped. Charlie did the tapping.

You might check with Appleton in Clarksville.

They don't give a crap about Buells, so I'd bet they have a few left.

Nevermind, Just got off the phone with Tom @ Bumpus. Found out I passed him in 2005 on the outside of turn two. He came over to shake my hand and tell me I was movin'! So it was a nice trip down memory lane for me.

All paid up!! Now to get the camper ready!

Intermediate group, PLEAE READ.

Intermediate Group: This group is for people with enough track time that they are comfortable at an accelerated riding pace up to the beginning racer. Riders in this group will probably want to focus heavily on body position, setting up for turns, the racing line, and advanced throttle/braking control. Instructors will be available upon request whenever possible. Safe passing is permitted anywhere with a 6-foot minimum safety cushion. The track tempo is intermediate to fast. No licensed racers permitted in this group unless cleared by Sportbike Track Time Staff. Riders in this group MUST wear a back protector.

Got in last night late, and hit the pillows hard.

Thanks Buell, the Dealers and STT!!!!!!!

Great day overall!!

My first session I removed a handful of teeth from the belt in the museum turn from a missed shift....I was not very happy about it until I found out it was just a belt.

HUGE THANKS GO OUT TO THE BUELL TRUCK!!! The supplied me with a new belt at an unbelievable price!

I moved up to the Advanced group after only 4 laps in Int. Barker(first track day baby) and Chad Hargis also bumped up.

My next session was a demo on the 1125R, the pace was SLOW...I was really bored and never really got to see what the bike could do. Yeah I drug a knee but you can do that at 20mph. The leader was hammering the brakes into every turn and giving the Uly he was on all it had in the straights. I let it be known I was not happy with the pace especially in the ADVANCED GROUP.

Next session got canceled due to a crash in Int. AGAIN! Glad I moved up!! Well it was bad enough to airlift the rider(He is on GSB and I have not had a chance to see if he is ok yet.) and cancel the A group too. By then I was pissed as I only had 4 laps that were any good and the demo was not what I was expecting.

After lunch I went out on Smokes 1125 and yes, I got to open it up and I am in L O V E!!! I was really getting her down, scraped the pegs in turn 2-3 and was loving the motor!! I got passed by one of the racers and was doing a good job keeping up till turn 7 when I downshifted one too many gears and the rear end came out. Scared me as it was not my bike but I kept cool and rode it out and still managed to run low 40's on her without "pushing" it.

I started to get brave on the Uly and ended up having a good time on it. I was running in the low 50's most of the afternoon but told Shred I wanted to get into the 40's on the Uly. Sure enough I got a 1:48.7 running with him! I hope we got the video but I had passed shred as we caught up to a demo group. We are coming down the back stretch to the kink and I am drag racing(losing) a handful of 1125's well I had no room to move into the line and jumped the curbing on the inside at about 90mph!!! Landed fine and completed the session. The guy next to me during this whole ordeal came over and commented on how cool that was.

All in all I gotta say that was one of the Best track days I have had. Great company and great riding.

The nashville guys!!! Thanks for the Dinner trip! that was a hoot, but the next morning the hotel was STANKY!!

Hope to get with yall again soon and ride!

Barker, you were gettin' it buddy!! The darkies you were leaving were sweet!

Chad, I wish I would have rode with ya little more! Next time for sure!

Smoke, thanks for the great ride on your machine!! I appreciate you trusting me enough to loan out your bike!

made it home, had a great time with y'all at the track. the s1w ran good all day, but i let it down by only getting to 1'52.4. i tried to make the 1125 spit me off coming out of the hairpin(nugget corner) but managed to hang on and make some 1'48.5s. last session just taking it easy managed to net me a best of 1'48.0. charlie, you are welcome.
ride safe,
tim

Very fun day!

Strangely, after my first track day, I keep running through the track in my head.

Is this normal? : D

It was my first track day. It won't be my last! I was able to pull 2:05 lap times on the Uly consistently (one second different from best to average over 8 laps). I have a goal to shoot for next time.

It was great to hang out with everyone!

All this talk of a bump to advanced shouldn't go to our heads...the group as a whole (not US of course) was pretty slow. I was only turning 1:52's and was passing people in advanced group. The advanced group at other track days down there typically turns at about 1:35 to 1:40. I still had a great time though!!

I mostly stayed to the back of the big packs on the track. I'd head to pit out about a minute or so after the lead pack left and I pretty much had the whole track to myself once I caught up to and passed the backmarkers.

I was running some race take off slicks, and the rear tire was pretty well baked at the end of the day. I was sliding the rear pretty much at will and praying it didn't come around on me. I just stayed hard on the gas and pulled the bike up if it started to slide. I had a big moment in turn 4 after I crested the hill and another one later coming out of turn 5 when I lit the fuse a bit early while still leaned over. Wheeee! Brown streaks in my leathers! LOL! : )

Fatty...yes...it is normal to ride the track in your mind. I swear, as soon as I get the bike on the trailer at the end of the day, I start thinking, "If I'd have only done XXXX, I could have shaved 2 seconds a lap off.". LOL! : )

I will be changing the gearing on my bike SOON. I am still running the stock gearing on my Gixxer, and I don't ride any tracks where I can wind it out to 160mph. I need the drive out of the turns more than I need the top end speed.

Big, big, big thanks to Buell for putting this event on. No other manfacturer does anything like this. It's just one of the reasons I love Buell!
