So I just got my catalog. They have a new "suit."

It is called the Transit, and it is made out of Goretex impregnated leather.

http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Transit-Jacket -p-20133.html

I was all hot and bothered by it until I saw the price, $797 for the jacket, $697 for the pants. So who wants make a donation to a fellow badwebber? I will promise to post a nice review of it.

I don't think I will replace my aerostich yet, but if so this has moved in the 2nd spot. Right behind another one piece roadcrafter.

The concept is that the goretex is bonded to the inside of the leather. Even with water proofing added to the leather eventually that will wear/fail (else why is goretex even needed) and the leather will get wet through to the goretex. Rider may be dry but leather will be soaked. Not sure how well the goretex will breath inside a layer of wet leather.

I would have to see some serious reviews to be attracted to this. It just seems that leather is generally a bad idea in heavy rain. Maybe my opinion will change when I hear some reports.

Harley FXRG leather is waterproof. I've had the leather jacket and pants 4 years and been caught in downpours and worn them all day in the rain. Never leaked a drop. A bit pricey, but well worth it.

The jacket is perforated, so I suspect that is how it breathes.

I don't think this is designed to replace a full aerostich. I think it intended as secondary jacket that just happens to have some rain protection.

There are some people who just want leather. Now Aerostich has something for them too. Just as they've had a waxed cotton jacket for all of those Brit-bike types who can't let go of the past either. ; )

Guaranteed, if it's in Andy's catalog, it's top quality premium stuff.

Yeah my brother has a black Softail Nostalgia, he thinks I'm a (feline-wimp) for wearing an Aerostich suit. I have a black leather jacket but never wear it any more.
