so i did not get a chance to demo any bikes at MB5 because of the weather that saturday and i really wanted to ride an 1125 to see if i would like it or not. so on buell.com my local dealer is listed as a participating demo dealer, i called them today to find out about setting up a demo ride and was told that they would only let me demo it if i agreed to purchase it first...after laughing at the salesman he tried to convince me that they just can't have people stopping by to try bikes for no reason and that it would be different if a current owner asked to demo a bike! when i informed him that i was a current owner of an XB purchased at their dealership he did the signature back pedal and told me i shouldn't need to demo the bike because if i love my XB that the 1125 is even better. this 5 minute conversation reminded me of why i hated the purchase of my buell the first time around!

When the Uly first came out I went to the closest dealer (not my dealer) to me. They had one out front. I inquired about a test ride and was told the bike hadn't been set up yet.

I went back the next day or so and was "granted" a test ride, but instructed to keep it under a mile!!

I then asked that dealer about demo rides and starting a BRAG Chapter. I was told that there were only 4 Buells local (at the time I owned 2) and they sold most of their Buells out of the area.

On a positive note, they did bring the demo truck in about a year later. However, the demo ride passed right by the only good twisties in the area and on to some sweepers.

Of note, the good twisties could be enjoyed at or very near the speed limit. The sweepers are best enjoyed at a more spirited pace, which they obviously can't do on a demo ride.

your quite welcome eric and thanks for the comment. hope i get to spend more time with you guys next time. with the riding, it just seems like the m2 handles a lot better for me than the xb's do. just more time on it i guess. hope to change that with the uly though. we'll see.

I have always found High Country Harley Davidson/Buell in Frederick, Colorado to be an exceptional Buell dealer. The commitment to Buell took a huge jump into the positive when Scott McMorris took over as owner about eight years ago. I had an experience there yesterday that has reinforced my already very positive opinions about HCHDB and propelled this dealership into the lofty strata that only the very best can achieve.

It began with an email from Dave in their sales department. He wrote me to let me know that they had Buell Hydration Packs in stock, and that he would be willing to hold one for me if I could come in and test drive their 1125 demo bike this weekend. Let's see, . . .ride the 1125 AND get a hydration pack . . .let me think about that . . .YES!

There was a huge "open house" going on when I got there . . .with my Uly in a trailer (see 'Lectical Gremlins) There were at least 300 bikes there and the parking had spilled over into the John Deere lot next door and extended a block each direction on both sides of the adjoining street. Coors was there "on tap", and I made a note to stop by later as soon as I saw the "Killian's Red" keg. The demos were lined up by the front door, including a several Buells. The Buells were going out almost a much as their larger cousins. I spent some time looking at the 1125 and then signed up. The bike was everything and more than I had expected, and I have made note of my impressions in the 1125 topic. When I returned from the ride, I grabbed a Killian's and went inside to fill out the Hydration Pack paperwork. Dave brought me a Pack even before I had put my name on the form.

I now had to turn to more practical matters. My bike was in the service department, and needed to get my now Hydration equipped self back to Boulder. I went to my friend Bones (also in sales) and asked how I could rent a bike. It was getting close to closing and although he looked for the "rental guy" . . .he had already left for the day. He told me to stand by while he looked into finding a bike I could use as a loaner. As it turned out, the bike he had in mind was reserved for rental the next day . . .and there were no others available.

Oh well . . .I had always wondered what it would be like to ride in a cab in Boulder. I was on the phone with the cab company when Dave and Bones came out front and told me they had a solution. One of the dealership employees, Brent, had agreed to drive me the 20 miles to my house in the dealership truck, even though it would add another 1 1/2 hours to his already very long day.

I think you will have to agree that this dealership has really gone the extra distance for me. I would hope that any of my fellow Colorado Buellers that have not met the folks at High Country Harley Davidson/Buell really should do themselves a favor and see how a genuinely Buell friendly , full service dealership operates.

Boulder, Colorado

P.S. Thank you Scott, Rachel, Dave, Bones, Brent and Justin for a remarkable Buell experience . . .in spite of Gremlin interference.

Buy from those guys, t-shirts, key chains, motor oil, anything to keep them in business. It's in your best interest.
