Some of you know my Arai helmet drama. Others are lucky. In the 19 months I've had my Arai profile I've had: 5 broken side pods 1 broken rear wing 2 front shield latches 2 base plates 1 chin vent 1 de-laminating base trim Arai's customer service has been great. Their helmets, not so much. I dropped it off at the shop at which it was bought. They are calling Arai and working to get an authorization to exchange. I hope they do it. I tried on other helmets today and nothing fits as well as the Profile. I'm hoping that this is just an isolated problem helmet. Keep your fingers crossed!! |

That sucks, I hope they hook you up... What model is it? I agree they do fit good... I have a RX-7 Corsair it fits so great. I was able to go down a whole size because of the fit.. Mine has been great, Except changing shields being a pain the Arse until I got the hang of it.. |

It's a profile. It was one of the first ones when they came out. |

Had similar issues with my last Arai (Astral). Seems that they aren't what they used to be. It's a shame actually. FWIW, I went with a Shark RSX for my newest lid. High quality helmet with absolutely no problems. The visor is "hands down" the best I've experienced. (Message edited by vagabond on April 15, 2008) |

FTB, what the hell are you doing to your helmet? I also have a profile. It has been the best helmet I have ever owned. The only downside is I have had to replace 3 shields. They are fairly soft, and I tend to scratch them. |

I'm very careful with my helmets. I work so that I don't drop them. That's why I think I got a stinker. It was a frost silver. I'm wondering if they got a bad batch of paint. I tried a Shark. The shield is like an inch thick! I am between sizes with Shark. |

FTB, I got one of the first "Black Frost" that came off the line. In fact I had to order it sight unseen. The Arai dealer had models for fitting, but the color was handled via paint sample. The only thing I know that affects a helmet's paint job is gas fumes. It cause the paint to flake, and the inner padding adhesive to give. That is why they recommend you never rest your helmet on top of your gas cap. |

My thought was that the paint dried out the plastic parts. |

I picked up an HJC AC-12 this winter from newenough.com for $99 plus shipping. Yesterday was the day I've had a chance to ride with it. My first impressions are positive. It's quiter than my previous AGV X-Vent (now called the Ti-Tech). It's also SNELL and DOT approved. Not to mention it's about 3 oz. lighter than the AGV (I weighed both on my digital kitchen scale). |

The AGV X-vent is quite different from the Ti-tech... The Ti-tech is a fantastic helmet, and their new GP-Tech is simply astonishing |
