any body wear knee protection? i'm talkin' impact, not abrasion, so don't get it twisted. i have conducted some asphalt testing, and see the need for impact protection down there. i'd like some CE style armor, like elbow/shoulder pads in a jacket. kevlar jeans don't seem to fit the billet. i'm looking for something i can wear under my levi's and above my first gear boots (no/short shin armor) without droppin' some $$$$$$$$$$ on a suit, and keeping it breathable behind the air box. suggestions, advice, and/or recommendations please! |

Bohn armor, check their website, they have a few different options. I have been thinking about some myself. |

http://www.johnsonleather.com/limb_tubes_with_stra ps.htm Love mine. Comfortable all day long, stay put, and I know my knees are protected. Spendy? Yes. The Brits seem to like this brand. |

For knee armor I wear motocross armor. They come down to just above my boots. I've used both Shift and Thor, $11-12 at the local bike shop (I'm a cheep @ss, too). They're comfortable and I can wear them all day. I've also figured out how to put them on and take them off without removing my pants, which seems to be more socially acceptable. |

My first gear pants will easily pull over anything else I am wearing, and have built in armor on the knees and hips. I try not to ride without them at this point. They keep road goo off whatever else I am wearing as well. |

i'm trying the ICON knee guards this season, should be here any day. i've heard a few reports that they work well while riding and in a get-off. i've used MX guards in the past but they end up cutting into my calf after a full day riding since your feet are so much higher on the pegs. leg is folded up. one thing to keep in mind if you wear guards that aren't anchored in with your boot, etc... they will shift immediately in a crash making them (potentially) useless. the ICONs seem to help with this by being long at the shin (tucks well in boot) and strapping above/below the knee. |
