You're definitely SICK and FT, BSTRD.

Ever heard of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Index (MMPI)?

How about the North Dakota Null-Hypothesis Brain Damage Inventory?

(I used to have a copy of the last one...)

Does anybody remember the TV show that had attack dogs that they used as part of a game show?

They had a Pincher, Rott and a Cane. They had a Christmas tree set up and you had to remove as many packages as possible.
First they Pincher.... They moved a little slower.
Then the Rott, slower yet...
Then the big boy came out and shut it all down. The dog was almost 200 pounds.
Fun to watch... WOULD NOT DO.

Do all Danes' have blue eyes?

On another note, today I ran into a lady with a ex-racing gray hound (rescue dog). Turns out she lives in a condo just around the corner from me. I of course thought it was strange that someone would have a dog that large in a city, that was until she mentioned her other dog was an Irish Wolfhound. Great choice for condo dwellers.

She did mention something funny though, I asked if she ever took the grayhound to an "off leash park," she said rarely because the gray hound does not understand that if you start running, you will not always end up at the starting point. She says the ex-race animals can just disappear over the horizon, confused...

From what I've found online, blue eyes are common in Harlequins (white with spots) and uncommon, but not extremely rare, in Blues. Other colors have dark eyes. The white on Kelee's chest and toes indicates that she has some Harlequin ancestors which is where she got her eye color. (IIRC both her parents had white spots)

Im a dog lover in general. Of course, we all have our particular breed(s) we are partial to. My buddy has a Dane. That sumbitch is taller than I when he puts his paws in my shoulders!! His head is above mine. Ridiculous. Cool Dogs though.
+1 for boxers.

When I was at college in Richmond a guy would ride around in his old CJ5 with the back seat removed. Two Harlequin danes sat in the back and looked over the roll bar. That might have been the point that I decided I'd have to have one one day.

Soon as you clip the ears, Cane Corso = hellhound. What an awesome looking beast. If I get a man-eater it will be a Tosa Inu. After my Shibas pass I may get a Shikoku (the base breed for the Tosa- looks nothing like a Tosa though).

This is Sweet Pea on a road trip.

Excuse my doggie newbie ignorance, but clip their ears???

Please tell me there is some sort of medical reason to do this?

It was done in the past for utilitarian reasons. Fighting dogs (guard dogs, war dogs, dangerous animal hunters, and sport fighters) had their ears clipped to keep them from getting torn or used as a hand/claw/bite handle in a fight. Today it's purely cosmetic.

I've decided not to crop my pup's ears. It would only cause the dog pain and discomfort (even if only for a sort time) and I don't want to have to worry with keeping her ears taped up for weeks or months. I don't think I'll be hunting any wild boars or putting her in dog fights, so there's really no need.

For show dogs, clipped ears are required to match the standard for presentation.

If you don't plan to show your dog and don't care if you have a Doberman Pinscher has floppy ears, it's not worth the trouble.

Although, your Doberman will look a little funny. : D

I think the dogs with unclipped ears are the ones that *don't* look funny. They look normal. If there is anything more satisfying for a dog or a human than a nice gentle ear massage, I don't know that it would be. Our cat goes into a trance when you do that and I feel more at peace.

Beagle ears, now there is a soft ear. And there is plenty of it, even for big hands. The beagle ear has advertising potential too. You want me to buy your toilet paper? Tell me it is a soft as a beagle's ear.

Humans should be trimming their kids ears at birth, not these helpless animals. When I see what these kids are doing with their ears and all the crap they are hanging from them, I know damn well they didn't need them from the get go.

Jack
