I was riding home one night last year in south Texas and a wild hog ran in front of my Buell. He was hiding in the tall grass and waited until I was so close to him before he struck out in front of me that I never even had time to touch the brakes. I think I missed his hind quarters by inches.

oh a sheep!1 i remember now. i was riding on a road across some open moorland on a yamaha dt125 (pre monoshock), where sheep graze. one decided to run under my bike. i stayed on but as i got to the top of the hill and went to change gear i couldnt find the end of the lever. looked down and the pressed steel lever was bent around facing backwards. baa baa was still grazing contentedly back down at the edge of the road. probably chuckling quietly to himself.

Funny story, a bunch of us were riding down to the river one evening and a squirrel ran out in front of a friends lowrider, doubled back and caught the rear tire. I was riding just behind and saw the whole thing. The funniest part was after the squirrel was hit it's arms and legs were moving as if it were still running but it was in a horizontal spin off in the emergency lane.

Well it was funny to me, guess you had to be there.

I ran over a skunk on my old Yammy XS650. I got sprayed with skunk juice, or whatever you call it. I couldn't get the smell off of my bike for days. I just tossed my jeans into the yard.

I've heard if you alternate your lights from bright to normal while riding on a dark country road, it helps keep the deer away. Apparently the deer get "deer-in-the-headlights" hypnotized by headlight beams, and the dimmming/brightening of your headlights snaps them out of their daze and they can run away. Or so I've heard.
