I recently read an article that reported that Buell was the only motorcycle company that did significant research to limit major damage from casual tipovers. I know that some makes can have serious, expensive damage from a garage fall, even up to a total loss by the insurance company.

It is always nice to see our company in the lead on many motorcycle issues!

Barely noticeable scratch on hand guard, tiny chip in indicator lens.

That was all.

this has to be one of the most exaggerated problems with the XB. you just have to out smart the inanimate object you're dealing with.

I slid off the road once when I hit some gravel. $80 fixed it all and that included a t-shirt. Not bad, not bad.

<~~still kicking the ORIGINAL sidestand. First model year XB9R, not a wink of a problem with it. No way in hell was I going to a stealership to fix something that isn't actually a problem.

As to repair costs, the Blast has been dropped 5 times by 4 different riders at speeds from 5MPH to 40MPH, never cost more than $25 to fix everything that broke. The Firebolt's been down once, that was a little more pricy, but only because I managed to snap the right side support on the magnesium fairing mount. That one piece accounted for over 80% of the repair cost (and it was still a helluva lot cheaper than I'd expected).

Yup. 'Bout the only things that ding up now (since the frame pucks, f/r axle and bar-end sliders, and burlier foot pegs) are the mirrors, the tips of the control levers, and maybe the shifter. Cheap, cheap to replace.

They still need to work on the header placement though. It still sticks out further than the right frame puck, and the corner of one bend will crush (unless they've remedied that since '06).

I have only to blame my two tip overs on gravity and stopping in just the wrong spot. Tires were on a raised area and legs were not long enough to compensate, foot happened to settle on rounded gravel over pavement. Hmmmmm.....could 'fall' into the clumsy category I suppose.

No damage to the bike at all. A note; turn bars away from the direction of the fall if you have a choice, and make sure you have the side bags on.

This is not a problem for us as riders, but it IS a problem for your bike with regard to asshats that walk up to your bike to sit on it. They don't / won't know enough to rock it back so that the kickstand is fully extended and you come back to a tipped over bike.

it's not the bike. it's the asshats. when ever a friend sits on my bike i make sure they push the stand forward and pull the bike back.

I've had an 02 M2 less than 3 weeks and it was knocked over on its left side on the fourth day by a coworker.

Bent shifter, broken clutch lever, scratched left grip, all replaceable under $50.00.

I think he chipped the tank too, but I didn't see how the tank could have hit the pavement. Add $90 to buff the tank and its all good.

I actualy never had a problem but the bolt did lossen up on me had to tighten it all was well after that I do keep a close eye on it though.

Kids tipped mine over last summer. A scratch on the lower end of the swing arm and a french horn curve made into my brake lever. Fixed the scratch with sand paper/paint. Pazzo levers fixed the lever issue. Pretty minimal thanks to long levers and frame pucks

My Uly almost went over when I hit some gravel in a parking lot today but I put a foot down and turned up the wick. I wish someone would have seen the event. When in doubt, gas it!

My wife forgot to put the kickstand down on my S1 on one occasion...it just scratched the footpeg and shift knob.

I did the same once early in my riding years ...with about the same result.
