Ill be doing alot of track days this year and am in need of some good gloves. I would love to buy some Held gloves, but they are a bit out of my budget. Does anybody have any suggestions on a good pair of gloves that dont break the bank. I have bigger hands also, i wear a size 11 ring. I have found most gloves are geared toward skinny finger guys. Thanks for any help

I just did some research on this very subject, and I bought some Joe Rocket GPX 2.0 Gloves.

They were $89.00 at New Enough, which is quite a bit less than similar gloves.

I have ridden with them a few times, and they seem fine.

New Enough has a pretty liberal exchange policy if they don't fit.

+1 for New Enough. I must of sent my boots back like 4 times before i got a pair that fits my feet. You only pay for return shipping. For gloves i bought these, i am happy with them so far. I don't know if they will fit you fine though.

My issue is size. Are the Joe Rocket gloves a little more roomy in the fingers? I just need a affordable pair of gloves that are made for someone with big hands

Best thing to do is find a Cycle Gear or the like and try them on.
Nothing less than an XL Joe Rocket will fit me.

Icon SuperDuty. No armor, but well worth the 55 greenbacks.

Personal preference of course.

I hear you on breaking the bank it is the same with jackets for me.
If you can hold out a little while until the Helds are in the budget. They are well worth it and the wait if you still have gloves to hold you over.

I was in the same boat as you on the gloves about 5 months ago. But I was lucky after holding out and finding a good deal I bought the Held phantom line.

Honestly well worth it. You will thank me later if you get them. I put on my 55$ rocket gloves and my 75$ fieldsheer gloves every now and then and the feel like paper...heck not even paper more like the flimsy packing paper you pack packages with. Its kind of scary how great I thought those were at the time but now that I have them side by side to compare with the Helds...Its scary...

Well good luck either way you go.

I'd strongly recommend NOT trying to save money if you're doing a few track days. This is protective gear, not decorative.

I've gotten the GP Plus Alpinestars. I don't own ANY gear that I haven't crash tested. The one really great feature of the GP Plus is the 3rd/4th finger stitching. Helps rigidize both of them in a tumbling get-off and goes a long way to helping prevent breakage.

They did very well a year ago for me - but that was a sliding low-side and not a tumble - but I hit the asphalt at over 100mph. Got some defensive rash on the right palm and some slam-damage on the back of both. I use them for street now - bought another pair for racing/track.

Also - seriously consider wearing your ring on a necklace inside your shirt if you can't leave it behind. While I understand the sentimental value in always wearing a wedding ring, a finger is a terrible thing to waste.

(Maybe that's because I've always worked in areas where jewelry was prohibited.)

Helds are made of
Kangaroo,Cowhide and Stringray.

The stingray is like 8 times tougher than the kangaroo..

Thanks for all the advice. I can get a pair of Held Akiras for $155 from parts411.com I think I might go that way instead. You guys should check that web sight out, they have a phone code that is cheaper than any place i have seen.

Slaughter, I know better than wearing my ring. I work in the ER, seen too many close calls with broken fingers and rings!
