Does anybody get the feeling that this series of bikes was aimed directly at Buell? I know if you talk to Buell sales people that alot of Buell buyer are x BMW folks. Selling points from BMW. 1. Torque all over the power band 2. Great in the twisties 3. Low maintenance due to BELT drive 4. $10,000 price range Of course reading the forums it seems like there are some quality control bugs that have been plaguing BMW for the last few years but they do have a sport tourer that I know alot of us want from Buell. |

I know if I was looking at bikes, that 800 GS would be on the short list. Ultimately, it would probably loose, because at $12k, its just too expensive. Right now, a $8k new XB9SX and a $800 used KLR-250 is a tough combination to touch for me. Now show me one of those 800 GS bikes in a few years for $5000, and we may be having a serious conversation. It remains to be seen if they will depreciate that fast or not. |

I looked at that bike myself, I like it a lot. Better in the dirt than the Uly, but will be spanked on the pavement. (and I do more asphalt than dirt) Nice suspension, but nowhere near as good as a Uly. Parts are more money, and you might have to wait for them. Its not American. Uly wins in my opinion. And I thought it was chain drive, could be wrong. |

I test rode the F800ST at Daytona. Plenty of power, but buzzy. I didn't like it much. Just my opinion though. |

I happen to own an F800ST as well as an XB9S and I have to say it's an awesome bike. Plenty of power. Lots of torque. A great combination/compromise of touring and sport. I bought one without ABS and it turns out it's the smartest thing I could have done since they have been having teething problems with it. I picked up my ST and rode it from Ontario, Canada to Orlando, Florida and had 6,000KM on it in one week. I didn't feel any more beat up on the BMW than I did on any of my Electraglides. It's a fun bike and I feel very lucky to own one as well as my Buell for those days when I'm feeling particularly devilish. |
