Holy crap!!!!! Some dude came upt o me while I was going into the grocery store adn commented on how cool my scooter was. I dont have a scooter i have a 2005 xb9sx. He then proceded to explain he spent the last year in europe and that there are scooters bigger than my bike. I cut the conversation short and headed in and he followed me continuing to tell me how much he knows about motorcycles adn how he has never heard of buell motorcycle company. So I referd him to the local buell dealer adn went on my way. on my way out i found him TOUCHING MY BIKE!!! After explaining to him he was not allowed to touch my bike he was upset and told me to chill out. I then made a rude comment about scooters in europe and he left. I hate people that touch things that dont belong to them. I was patient when he called my bike a scooter and guessed a displacement of 250cc , also when he proclaimed himself a motorcycle expert , but dont touch my bike.

sorry I am done now. had to get it out.

I was just headed into the library here and stopped to talk to a guy about his Vespa. While we were chatting. . . gal gets in an old clunker in front of him, promptly backs into the Vespa. We both bang on her trunk, she gives an indignant look and just drives off.

People do some very unthoughtful things.

I bought carbon fiber body parts the next week.

I really dont think he would have liked it if I was all over his car. I guess people just dont think. It really cought me off guard I would not think of touching someones bike without asking. what if I knocked it over? what if I scratched something? so many little things that probibly would not happen but could. I dont know I guess my bike is in my personal bubble.

Idve run with it at a spirited pace and fed him a total line of b.s.

"Yeah, its got a flux capacitor fed by a Mr fusion double helix atom scrambler unit and runs on chunky style flatulence...also winds out 1st gear at about 1337 mph..."

You toucha my bike, and we got problems.

Few years back, I came out of a resturant and saw some azz jack getting ready to swing a leg over my springer...

A loud, angry "What the F*^K???" sent him hurriedly along his way...

I have been referring to bikes as scooters for DECADES. It's a silly thing of mine.

...but

I don't touch ANYBODY'S stuff and expect to keep my hand attached.

It's not that people don't think, people just dont have consideration for others. They thought about it... but they do it anyway because there is no threat of immediate consequence. Thats disrespect, and anyone that can't understand that, is the type of person you find sitting on your bike when you come around the corner.

I was in 7-11 paying for gas and I come out and some redneck was on my bike. As I ran up I was holding my helmet by the chin guard with my right and reaching for something else with my left. I drew back and swung wide and clapped him right in the ear with the top of the helmet. Luckily when he fell the bike didnt go with him. He got up really fast and had out a rambo knife and said "Mother fuh!....." Insurance was Dad and a Taurus "Raging Bull" .500, and me with my S&W Model 629.

All he could say was he was sorry, he was just looking at it.

I really hate stories like this.

It just reminds me you really can't have anything nice these days.

What happened to the hells angels. Because of them a lot of people were (are?) scared of motorcyclists.

I think we need a few public "mercy killings" just to remind folk that we are not all nice.

A buddy and myself were at a bar when someone came in and asked who owned the 'rocket' outside. Some drunk girl thought it was cool to sit on his bike because the 'other one' was ugly (the Buell) and had knocked it over. When he wanted to know how she planned to pay for the damages she shrugged and told him that's what insurance was for.

A similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I parked my bike at school and this foppish guy comes up to me and says "Hi John". I took my helmet off and said "I'm not John" he says "Oh I thought you were someone else" so I asked him who he thought I was. He says "Well my friend has a moped just like that one." I basically yelled at him "This isn't a moped!" He says it looks pretty small and I proceed to inform him that it is a 1200. He says "I have no idea what that means." I told him that the engine is at least ten times the size of his friends moped. I was actually pretty heated for such a trivial thing. It never ceases to amaze me when I meet a guy who has no knowledge or interest in motor vehicles. It is just very strange to me.

I had a suburban Mom and Daddy walk up to my bike in the parking lot with their 3 or 4 year old leading the way. I could read their lips - "Look at the pretty motorcycle, Johnny". I saw them coming through the window I was looking through. The little 3 or 4 year old proceeds towards the bike with index finger extended and proceeds to plant it right on the pretty exhaust pipe. It had only been parked for a minute or two. Of course the kid is now balling his eyes out because the end of his finger 'bout burned off.

The parents come in raising hell wanting to know who's motorcycle that was out front. I told them it was mine. "My son just burned his hand on your motorcycle" the Mom said. I said "I know - i saw it coming". They said "why didn't you stop him?" I said, because I knew you wouldn't, and now he will never do that again".

I rode with a hot-headed guy on a Gixxer 600 once (ONLY once, too hot-headed for me). We had made a stop at a drive-in for some grub and when we were heading back to the bikes, there was a young kid holding an ice-cream cone spread across it with both hands on the grips.

This guy FLIPPED out, all kinds of yelling and such. The parents about shit themselves, the grandfather that was with them was annoyed at the whole situation, and the kid was a heartbeat away from crying.

I don't blame the kid for touching the bike - it's what kids do. I DO blame the parents for allowing it.

Personally, as mad as it would make me, I can't wait for this situation to get to me, lol...

"Nice bike, is it fast? You don't know? How can not know? It's not yours, you say? But you're sitting on it - only an a**hole would sit on someone else's bike."

I found a drunk guy sitting on my bike once. He got off pretty quickly when he realized the gravity of the situation. I came within a split second of swinging my helmet into his head... that wouldn't have been good for the helmet at all.

My old office had city-metered motorcycle parking right outside my office, for a while I could look down out my window and see my bike (yeah!) unfortunately there's also a bus stop right there, in a not very nice part of town. So I often had people sitting on it, leaning on it, leaving their coke sitting on the tank, you name it. This was my old bike, not my Buell, what I found was if I put it on the centerstand, vs leaning it, it was a lot more attractive as a waiting bench, so I stopped using the centerstand. It's annoying but I never cared enough to start bothering with a cover, which would be the only answer.
I've since changed offices, now have an underground garage, way better.

I won't touch anyone else's bike unless invited, but never hesitate to let others sit on mine, even if they are kids with muddy shoes and sticky hands. Its just a bike.

And thats the XB9SX. People are welcome to go and wreck the KLR 250 if they want, I just ask that they try to do so on dirt : )
