I was at the book store a few days ago and was checking out some stuff. I was hoping to get another book to cram some performance riding techniques before Badness and came across a book on 'how to be a biker'. They have an entire chapter dedicated to organizing a trailer and loading the bikes safely to get to a rally...

Awesome!

Does it have a chapter on how to unload your trailer 10 miles outside the event, beat your leather jacket in the dirt and dust so It looks like your rode in.

(BTW a old time biker I used to work with saw this on his way to Sturgis, the messed up thing was his bike was all shiney and clean LMFAO)

Remember, It's the destination, not the journey. Wait, or is it the other way around? I get so confused with cleche's.

That's an attempt on humor.

OUCH funny thing is both dealerships I have worked for have had a variance of those as their tag line
Legend H-D "Ride the Journey Live the Legend"
Destination H-D "Lifes a Road, Live a Little."
Mine would have to be "Got MUD?" But I think there is a tire company that already has that. Hell Washington Mutual just trademarked "Whoo hoo" now you cant use it without paying them money
PS I get a kick out of Adventure Motorcycle books that tell you how to outfit your trail and support vehicle and keeping your "crew" on board with your vagabond ways.

And to think I made the mistake of trailering mine right into town. I got nothing to hide any more. I've road my bike across the US more than once. I'll take the trailer to Sturgis and be proud of it. But hey, you guys should have seen the Wal-Mart parking lot in Spearfish! You couldn't get off the highway for all the "bikers" unloading their bikes in there!

One year when I rode down to Daytona for Spring Bike Week I stopped at a rest area to take a leak. As I was approaching the building, this little, dust-covered dude wearing a Harley shirt and wearing a rebel hat came shuffling out holding a cup of coffee. He stopped, looked around the parking lot and exclaimed in a LOUD voice: "Holy Shee-it! Mah dealer didn't tell me when I bought my Harley I'd need a big ol' f***ing TRUCK to go with it!!"

I think my BMW was the only other bike there with its wheels touching asphalt.

Ya know, I can understand trailering to Daytona if you come from New England, or Chicago, or Minnesota. But what was up with all those bikes on trailers with FLORIDA plates???

Does it count as "trailering" if I put my bike in the horse trailer when I go with the wife to one of her horse events?? LOL

D_d, you should save that one for April fools day and post up on the H-D forums, see how many takers you get.
I have a stack of "go ride" cards at my desk. It is the get out of errands, work, household stuff, and your ticket to ride. Kind of like "get out of Jail free" card from monopoly. it is a clear ticket to ride for the guys that just cant sack it up and get on the bike on their own ;) they go about as fast as I can copy them.

There sometimes are good reasons though - I am dropping my daughter off just off I-75 to go to the badness.. I have to trailer my bike (or throw it in the truck bed) because of the stuff I gotta take with me for her, then of course because It'd be a long haul with a 5 yr old on the back from Central FL to North GA on my lightning...

the most i've done on the cyclone in a week is 3100. of course i'll be trailering the bikes over to suches from greenville mainly because of the camping gear but i don't think my wife wants to ride the blast 3 hrs at one clip. so who am i to say anything about trailering. i really would rather ride than drive though.
