I have to admit I am impressed with my XB9S in both its handling and performace but the news of the 12S brings tears to my eyes...An XB with 100 horses!! I have been reading that there are minor differences between the engines and wanted to know if I changed the XB9 engine internals to that of the XB12 using factory parts would the warranty remain in tact? ANY Ideas or am I just being a prat?

Unless you had your stealership do the work and are in REALLY good with the service manager they would probably say you voided the warrantee.

I had heard tails of dealers saying the installation of a race kit voided warrantee.

Your best bet would be to talk honestly to your service manager and hope for the best. Of course I also hear it's not as easy as the 883/1200 conversion on Sportsters either.

Food for thought.

If what I heard is true about the heads, cylinders, & cams being the same then I'm hoping that all would be required would be to split the case and install a balanced rod/piston/crank assembly, a flywheel perhaps?, the larger throtle body & controller. Oh, and ofcourse, the headers. I've been watching this board like a hawk waiting for someone to spill the beans on the "how to"

Next question you should ask yourself, and your salesman. Is it worth the cost of converting, or to just trade for a 12 with all the goodies AND warranty?

There are more little differences than just motor internals between the two bikes. By trading you would get all the new stuff, the new belt being a large drawing point to me.

Just food for thought.
