The smack down was legit, but that "letter from a local leo" was proved a fake.

We have the advantage of being so early! The Leo Smack Down doesn't start until busy season.

being i saw it taped to the counter in charleston sc would make me wonder too but since i got to take the wife up there last year and the kids are coming up sometime on friday this year, i really don't care to get back over there again and take that chance. i heard how nasty it got during the peak of the riding season last year and it didn't sound very fun to me.

The THP presents isn't a myth, it's well documented.
Of course it has a lot to do with when you decide to ride up that way, and weather or not you ride the posted speed limit, or the dreaded five miles per hour over...

Been to the Dragon two years in a row. Haven't seen a LEO yet. Both times in September, both times on a weekday not weekend. There were still quite a few bikes there, but thankfully, on the days of my visits everyone was getting along and having a great time. I'll be back this September for sure. Wish I could see you all at March Badness. Maybe next year for sure.

I'll ride the Dragon on my way to Suches and I will ride it on my way home.

Getting a ticket during the Badness would SUCK! No need to poke the sleeping bear.

Found out yesterday my premium raised by $200 per year because of exceeding the speed limit. I cannot "earn" another ticket at badness.

Maybe we need to clone hammer and have him(S) on all rides. lol.
BTW...glad youre healing up, man.

Just think ya'll....In three thursdays....it'll be ON!!!!

Thanks for the offer guys!

I am up for whatever (easy or hard rides), the callsign I bare is a Oxymoron and my wallet would attest to that.

I hope to ride, drink and BS with some or all of you this weekend.

Another question, I will be arriving at TWO on Thur. and setting up camp. Due to the number of Buellers staying at TWO is it better to do the 3s's at night or in the morning. I have seen all kinds of comments on Showers, Breakfast, early and late start times for rides. Just trying to see were to fit into the grove and not be the one giant speedbump.

I was in the shower at 8:00 every morning, and it was always empty. I'd imagine the 9-10 AM and 8-10 PM would be the busier times. Avoid those times and you'll be fine.

Although it does sound like more people are camping this year, maybe things will be different.

The bathrooms are pretty small, so if they are full, head over to the lodge and socialize for 10 minutes, and head back. I don't think there was EVER a time when there weren't people out on the porch or inside the lodge to talk to. Even the owners/operators were cool!

No better anywhere.
Make an effort to meet Brit and GT, they are great folks, and work very hard (you'll see) and a little appreciation goes a long way.

"Your gang staying through sun ? We are leaving on mon. morning ,so we can ride at leisure on sun."

Hey Ray, I'll be staying through Sunday (maybe the whole week, depending). Last year, Smoke and I stayed until Monday and rode til we got separated (I got stung by a bee - ouch).

See you and Stevedaplumber again when I get there.

That's what it's all about. Interesting people, interesting bikes (not just Buells) and verrrry interesting roads.

I'll probably be doing a Sunday night raid to Wylie's in Dahlonega if anyone is interested. Good steaks and pretty girls are a great way to end the weekend.

Just a reminder about check out time.

It is when it is and I think that is around 10AM.
If you want to leave make sure you check out at the appointed time.
Otherwise they will be working on Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner and you will NOT be able to settle up.
They are very busy and have a schedule they follow.

This info would have made my blood pressure a little lower when I left.
I ended up calling from home with a credit card # and all was well.

I had just waited in the lunch line for 30 min. and was told I would need to come back later.
I was pissed to say the least. Just thought I would pass the word to save someone else the hassle.

This time in 3 weeks I should be giving Vern/Etennuly a ration of well deserved $hit!

That is why on Sunday, I just head straight to the lodge, get a cup of breakfast, and settle up right then.

I don't think Britt cares if you get there before they open for the season as long as you respect the place (I know a few regulars that camp there in the off season). Only thing is; no amenities until he gets there.

I might get there earlier myself.

The Friday ride to the Cherohala/ Dragon is still on!! IT is planned as a group ride with several stops along the route.

The ride will leave at 9AM, and head for Tellico Plains, Tn. From there we will cross the Cherohala and head to the Dragon.

Once at the Dragon, we'll stop and everyone can ride the Dragon at their own pace (I go rather slow, although maybe not slow enough fo the po-po) and want everyone to enjoy the road at their own pace.

After 1-2 hours at the Dragon, the plan is to form up and head back to TWO. We'll leave out of the Gas station and head down Hwy 28 to Hwy 143, back into Robbinsville. From there we will take HWY 19 To Hwy 60 back to TWO.

P.S. Bring warm clothes on the ride!!! The Cherohala can be down right cold at the upper elevations!!

THE DRAGON RIDE IS WEATHER DEPENDENT!!! I don't care to ride in snow and/or freezing rain!!!

Weather, LOL~!

I live in Dallas, TX. Yesterday I rode the bike into work and it was 74. Today I got 6-9 inches of snow and it is 29. It is supposed to be 41 on Friday and 70 on Sunday.

WTH~
