I've been going to Peoria for the TTs for years, and realize that I've never asked a local about the best steak joint in town (stoopid rookie move on my part) . . .. . so . . . .. what's the best steak joint in Peoria |

I don't live in Peoria. I live about as far away from Peoria as you do, but if my memory serves me correctly they serve mean steak at Big AL's for lunch! LOL Hell, everything tastes better in that atmosphere! Keith

Bomber, There is a sports bar named "Sully's" just around the corner from Big Al's that has pretty good bar style food. I know its not steak but is a nice place none the less. There is also a restuarant named "Schooners" on War Memorial Drive that has an absolutely huge tenderloin. Its about the size of the drinks tray that the waitress carry's out. hope this helps some. Food is not usually on the top of my list when staying the night in Peoria. I do know that you can find some great entertainment there though! Keith

Well there are only a few non-chain Steakhouse restaurants in town...Alexander Steakhouse...It is on the river...5 min from downtown...it is a cook your own steak place(for a few bucks they will also cook it)...huge steaks and nice salad bar...pretty good...and then there is Lariat Steakhouse...good old style steak house...haven't been there for 10 years... so I can't vouch for the place but it used to be really good...and then there is a newer place out north of peoria in a new outdoor mall...Johnny's Italian Steakhouse...I have been there once and I had pasta...very nice and classy...live jazz on the weekends...good food though...then there is always Outback, Ned Kelly's, Lonestar, and then finally Texas Roadhouse...so if you need info on any of them let me know and I will get it for you. Have fun and hope to see some of you here in ole Ptown! |

Torq Thanks for the tip . .. non-chains tend to be a bit better, and anyplace close to a river gets points with me . . . . I knew I could count on this board to scare up a local view on the scene . . .. . . I'll definately be in Peoria 16/17 August, as will Coneboy . . . .. . perhaps we'll see you there? |

I haven't eaten at Alexander's in Peoria, but I have eaten at Alexander's in Springfield; I give them 2 thumbs up! I can't make it to the TT, but I WILL be at the Mile in September. |
