Wow, I remember recently seeing an add by Arnold and wife about how great California is and that they needed people to come out to fill all the jobs they have.

Sorry to hear about your plight. Good luck!

I love that she told you to get off the BadWeb until you found a job, so what do you do? Look for a job...on the BadWeb!

Good luck brother. You've got an impressive array of human capital amassed here. Plus a degree from Berkeley? I doubt you'll be unemployed very long.

Best of luck in the job search. I am currently working for the fine state of California

(laid off and drawing unemployment whilst looking for work)

The construction industry has taken a few hits recently, and I am just one of the casualties. On the bright side, I can ride whenever I want.

Quite a few people have found jobs through contacts made here on this website.

Have you thought about looking in the Reno area?

If you think you might be interested in Sunnyvale, we're hiring up there but looking at the map, that'd be the commute from hell.

Depending on background they DO offer virtual jobs and some telecommuting.

Not sure if you were looking for a critique or not, but you're getting one ;)

Elaborate on your objective. I would mention the industry you're looking to get into. If you're interested and applying to companies in more than one industry, keep multiple copies that are tailored to each job type.

Seperate your "training" from your "education". The College degree is impresive and doesn't belong on the bottom of a list. Also, with all your other college and training, your high school diploma doesn't add much value (and it was 24 years ago - man, I was 1 year old, lol), so I would consider just dropping it.

For the job experience stuff, watch you're wording - you said "I run..." (present tense) for a job you haven't worked at in almost a year. And fancy it up a bit - instead of, "I ran a cash register", say, "I performed cashier duties" or, "I operated a cash register."

Just some constructive critisism from a recent college grad who has had his resume torn apart by critics for the last 3 years, lol. Don't want to see a fellow Bueller out of work!

Good luck with the hunt!

Hey, Hexangler: You can easily work your sales angle. Sales employers know those skills are transferable (its more about how you pitch the product, than the product itself).

Do you have any numbers you can put there? i.e. "Top Sales - Over 150% quota attainment generating 200k in revenue per month."

I grew up in Fountainbleu. I'd love to work and live in France for a while.

Growing up abroad gave me an appreciation for the USA based on something other than nationalism and patriotic ferver. All Americans should spend some time abroad to really see what's good (and bad) about their country. It'll make you love America more.

Come on guys, I don't need a couch to sleep on; I just need a J O B! Starting Monday!

Lockheed might be interesting, my grampa worked for them back in the day, C. John Ryan. He worked on a lot of projects including chief engineer on the Hubble Space Telescope. (I've got the blue prints at home to prove it!) I just might send them a revised resume of my posting here. And if employed, rent a room for the once a week commute. There must be some work that I can do locally.
I knew this was going to be embarrassing.........
