I have had some front brake pulsing and was dreading the diagnosis of a warped rotor. Talked to my local H-D/Buell store and they suggested I get a new rotor.
(I will admit the sales guy there did suggest ebay rather than retail.)
Quick call to a guy 2600 miles away - Al Lighton of American Sport Bike - and a few key questions asked led him to suggest Lyndall gold at $55 and after a 3 min install my braking issues have been resolved.
Braking is smoother, better and these pads require no "bedding in".
I thank Al and American Sport Bike for their expertise and their guidance.

Andrew

I just ordered a set myself. Should be here monday. Had the same symptoms. Lots cheaper than a new rotor aint it? Guys like Al are hard to find these days.

Chiming in too on both counts.

The Lyndalls are great with the wave rotor I also bought from Al. I did however follow the break-in instructions listed on the back of the package. My neighbors thought I had finally lost my mind when I spent about ten minutes running back and forth up and down the block seating the new pads.

The Lyndalls were even more impressive on the rear brakes. I had always complained that the stock setup had no feel. Either they felt like they were doing nothing at all, or they were locked up with nothing in between. The Lyndall Gold rear brake pads have a very progressive feel and I now understand what trail-braking is supposed to be all about. Thanks Al for your hard work and support of the Buell community.

I reinstalled some stock pads I had laying around when the Lyndalls I replaced them with wore out. It was just a matter of a few days when the brakes started pulsing again. As soon as the replacement Lyndalls were installed, the pulsing went away and has not returned.

That's my story.

What are these symptoms you speak of? I was experiencing some 'pulsing' in my front braking as well. What questions did Doctor Al ask you to pinpoint the problem? Sounds like a situation for my credit card to handle.

John,
For me it felt as though I had ABS when braking hard. The was some pulsing at the caliper up through the lever/bars a little. Less so than a warped rotor, but noticible if braking into a turn.

Sounds exactly what I was experiencing. So then, the fix is the Lyndall Gold pads?

The problem is the uneven deposition layer left behind by the stock pads.

Lyndalls wear evenly and will quickly scrub off the crap the other pads leave behind.

Sweet. I am ordering them today. Sounds like it will surely put a 'stop' to my problem.

Sorry, that was bad.
