Whoever it is that is thinking about getting ablation treatment might check into some non-invasive treatments first. You should have a complete(with minerals and vitamins) blood prifile done.

If you go back to my first post, that's what I prefaced my very first with.
I didn't just google the info. I got it and used it under direction of my medical Dr.

You weren't the only one giving medical advice.

Although you have Bolded the one sentence that isn't medical advice, your next THREE POSTS tell all about magnesium deficiencies and a product someone could take.

I am only suggesting that, if you have questions, please talk to your cardiologist. By the way, he/she may want you to go ride and have fun, but if they say it's OK and you bleed to death in an accident. Some people would take legal action. MD's have to cover themselves at all times. Sad really.}

I never said, implied, indicated, nor did he derive from any of my posts that he should do anything without the blessing of his Dr. We have corresponded privately as well and in all of our conversations we talk about discussing everything with his/my Dr.
I also told him he may check into some relaxation techniques as well.
The man was talking about a serious and invasive procedure that could cause him more harm than good. I just gave him info he can go to his Dr with and that is what his plan is.
Better living through pharmicuticals...it's just a catch phrase. If you can get your life under control without artificial means, I think that would be better and so do most folks.

Good Samaritan rules apply.
This is the internet.
Confirm everything independently,
and with professional direction on a personally attentive level.

My dad once was diagnosed with a different situation than the one being discussed in this thread. Turned out that the doctor who had diagnosed him was wrong and the treatment he was under was 100% the wrong thing and was exactly opposite from what should have been done to help him. He finally got someone else to check him out, got things corrected, had some surgery (different from what this thread is about), and lived a good many more years before some other alement got him. He never saw 60 years old.

Thank you for being the good samaritan here Pammy and speaking from your own first-hand account.

Everyone else, take everything you read on the internet as nothing more than suggestions overheard in a coffee shop from eavesdropping on a group of people three tables over and confirm everything on your own and with appropriate face-to-face dialog with your own personal professional practitioner.

A couple of years ago one of my Brother-in-laws called the doctor's office on a Friday about chest pains or indigestion or heartburn. The nurse on the telephone talked with him a bit, then said to take a couple of aspirin and if he doesn't feel better to then come in to the office on Monday. Saturday afternoon he wasn't feeling well and told my sister he was going to take a short nap. He had a major corronary heart attack and died, CPR and paramedics couldn't save him. Neither could the "take two aspirin and see the doctor on Monday if you don't feel better by then" advice. He never saw 50 years old.

Life goes on, unless it don't, then you die. Check your options, get second opinions, get third opinions if you feel the need to or especially if the first and second opinion are not in agreement.

This thread is scarey.

Well, I appreciate Pammy's advice, and also Eengler's admonitions. It wasn't my intent to start a p*ssing contest, I'm just looking for insight. One problem with docs is that they only rarely know anything about non-pharmacutical treatment. They will either say, "yeah, go ahead and try it" because they think whatever it is you want to try won't do anything at all, or they tell you not to do it because they don't understand it and don't have time to look into it. Therefore, I feel it is up to me to manage my own treatment as much as possible, with all the information I can get my hands on. As far as the answer to my original question goes, it looks like until I can get this fixed it comes down to whether I'm more scared of having a stroke or of being injured while on blood thinners. I'm going on the thinners starting this week and we'll see what happens. It sure is going to cut down on my partying. Maybe I'll get some work done in the garage.

Nor was it mine.

Good luck and be careful.

Information is a good thing.

I work in a hospital as a clinical engineer, all though I have not personally partaken in these treatments, I have observed the proceedures on more than one occasion. Let me tell you that I believe that Surgery or Ablation therapy should be the absolute last option. Cardioversion and ablation therapy cause irreversible changes to the heart and not always for the better.

In looking at Pammys advice, I looked at my supplements that I take. Magnesium is way too low. I am in the process of purchasing the calm supplement that was noted above. I am a huge believer that most of our diseases are caused by vitamin and mineral deficiency's.

Hey, Lost: Do you want to expand on that? I'm pretty much insisting on cardioversion (although I know it probably won't stick) and thinking that ablation is the best hope for a permanent fix. I'd like to hear why you said what you said. I'm scared enough, why not add some more to the pile:>)
