I don't know what you guys listen to while you're banging the keys, but I'm generally plugged into the BBC.
I used to listen to Pandora, which is great, but they won't let me any more cos my IP is out of the US.

So whatever music you like or plays etc etc look here; theres no ads on the BBC.

Don't forget to check out the local radio shows too.
For instance there's a couple of great soul shows on Radio Stoke & Radio Oxford.

There's something for all, & NO COMMERCIALS!!!

Good topic - the net "radio" is expanding.

The local NPR stations are always good - music? For background, I'll often have Radiomargaritaville running at low volume. (It's not ALL Jimmy Buffet)

There is Clint Beachwood's A Day at the Beach internet radio show that brings 2 hours of surf music from around the world.
It's broadcast live every Thursday from 4 to 6 PM from San Diego State University's free-form station KCR.
Been listening to this for a couple years.
Brightens up a Thursday at work.

Surf's Up!

You gotta Pay for XM and Sirius.

I'm a freeloader. We get XM at work online. One of the guys has an account. Kinda nice because inside the metal building you can't get satellite.

Now if they would just bring back ALL Video programing on cable.... Like MTV was before the "reality" and Scripted reality shows aired. Remember MTV? that f'n M was for MUSIC. : | I remember the exact moment it died, the season they put that American Bandstand style dance show on it with Downtown J Brown. It was all a slippery slope into "programming" from there.

Cityxslicker, they put the music on MTV5. At least till they make another Real World series and that takes up all the time slots...

XM can be had for free if you use AOL, which also can be free if you have a broadband connection.

Like MTV was before the "reality" and Scripted reality shows aired. Remember MTV? that f'n M was for MUSIC

MTV went to scripted shows so they could sell commercial time at a higher rate. By having scheduling of actual shows, they were able to raise their viewership in primetime and sell commercial time at a higher rate than they could with random videos.

I miss Music Television too.
