Those rotors are more likely ceramic (Starfire) than carbon.

Carbon rotors on a streetbike is just stupid because you need to keep heat IN the rotors for them to work. Looks cool but with the ceramics being proven more and more - the need for preheat goes away and their ability to work when wet will trump carbon.

Just my opinion.

Unlike some manufacturers I can think of, Ducati couldn't sell an ugly motorcycle if they wanted to.
Can we say Paso? And then for something more recent, Hypermotard? Many would say the 999 wasn't a thing of beauty (although I think it is).

Hey,Molly_Hatchet, here's to "Flirtin' with disaster".

I can't believe the dealership let me sit with the mechanic yesterday while he timed my cams(adjustable).I tried for a week but didn't have the special offset woodruff key set.All 4 cams got offset keys to dial to "special" numbers.Today, assembly went slow with most of the wiring harness being placed properly.Should be running in about 2 weeks conservatively.Boy i HATE motorcycle modifications but am in the home stretch.I was advised against breaking in my new 13:1s' with synthetic oil.New rings seat much better with dino-oil

This was a "little" pet project i got into after discovering a little water weep from the rear head.Normally i'm against mechanical modifications, but went ahead anyway as i realised my two Buells keep me happy. This has been quite the project having sourced pistons to discover they didn't fit, only to re-machine them TO fit. It's been awhile but this next season will make up for last season w/o the Duc,now it'll be "Supertuned".I may achieve 135 RW

Excuse my ignorance. They looked like carbon discs, which is why I asked the question, given I believe it to be a streetbike.

Now if you'd have said ceramic before I asked, I would immediately be thinking Porsche.

Can we say Paso? And then for something more recent, Hypermotard?

I'm really familiar with the Paso. A friend has a red 907ie. Given the Testarossa and Mondial were the pinnacle of supercar style during that time, Ducati did well to capture the style on two wheels. It's a pretty aerodynamic motorcycle too. In fact it would not surprise me if a Paso were a great deal more slippery than an 1125. Air cooled 907cc 2 valve heads and a genuine 145mph was excellent almost 20 years ago.

I don't think you'll find many that see the Hypermoto as ugly But then again, there's no accounting for poor taste.

I just don't like the arachnid look that has become so trendy. It is just not for me and my poor taste.

As i sat yesterday with the Ducati specialist and other Ducati bikers wrenching their own bikes at the dealership(That was cool) i even stated i consider myself a "Buell cyclist first".

Ducati is special.Like all Italian exotic machinery. But THIS poster definitely identifies with the Buell marque FIRST

Looky here though. First we start with the Duc Hypermotard:

Then (albeit in blue) a close cousin:

Another distant relative:

Still don't see the family resemblance?
And of course, there's Spidy himself

I am one of the few who like the 999 too. The Hypermotard isn't bad looking but gained a more massive look than it had as a show bike. Certainly looks better than the Multistrada it is based on.
I was surprised to read that the 1/4 mile e.t.'s were slower than what I have done on my S3.

Please, no bug references.

Multitool

Time this thread had a Multitool in it, so's we can see what we're talking about.

Now that is a motorcycle the 1125 should go up against. When the Multitool gets bigger engine and more power, it might even beat the 1125 in performance.

do you think it will look better when it grows a radiator? Or do you fancy (is that British for fantasize?) they will get that kind of HP and stay air-cooled?

I don't see the Multitool getting liquid cooling. If the Multi stays in Ducatis range beyond 2010 I imagine more powerful 2 valve air engines will only happen if the Hypermotard gets whatever first.

As an all-round motorcycle, there's a valid 'day to day' comparison to be had between the Multi and the 1125. Not everything is about high performance. I believe that was part of Erik's plan for the 1125, not to make a balls out screamer, right?

The XB12XT would be a more valid comparison.

Has anyone noticed the most attractive side pods on the Ducati Multistrada? That Treblanche fella really knows how to pen 'em.
