Does anyone know if the cheese grater is required to used the factory Buell saddlebags? I am contemplating taking my cheese grater off, but want to retain the ability to use the bags on occasion.

You don't need the cheese grater to use the Buell bags. They sling over, and under, the rear part of the seat...
