I have a '99 M2 with 15000 miles. It has developed an intermittent ignition problem that I have not been able to reproduce in my garage or eliminate. Riding along the engine will just stop. No sputtering nothing. All other electrical continues to function. Some times it will start right up sometimes it has to sit a while. I have seen others with this problem posted but no resolution. Has anybody fixed this?

kickstand safety switch . . . override it, bypass it, shoot it with a .44-70, nuke it, send it to coventry, kick it . . . . ..

Fuel tank vent hose, check it all the way down see if it plugged or pinched off some where.

I don't think that it is the side stand after the engine dies the starter will turn but the engine will not start (no spark). Likewise I don't believe that it is the vent because there is no sputtering the engine just shuts off.

Grum . . .with that data, you're right, it's not hte saidestand switch . . . I'd suspect a heat-sensitive ignition part (coil, spark plug leads, like chainsaw sez . . . . 'sides, never argue with a man named chaninsaw)
