What is the paint code for the nuclear blue on some of the tube frames. I have a customer that wants to paint his extended swing arm. | ||

Pammy, Two weekend ago I showed my bike at World Of wheel's. Classic Coatings was there vending and they are the company that originally did all the powder coating for buell and still does some. I inquired about the color and they said it had been discontinued. Have your customer check them out at www.classiccoatings.com . they have other candy colors that may fancy your customer taste. | ||

He was trying to match the blue of the frame. I suggested black. He may paint it flat black. Thanks anyway | ||

what i have been wondering is, i realize that buell owns the color rights(i think?) so classic coatings cant make/get anymore of the color. why couldnt buell be convinced to open it back up again. there are so many tubers running around that need or are going to need to redo parts. why leave them hanging. the gf's father has a molten orange and nuclear blue S1(my favorite). he had a key chain hanging down and rubbing on the frame. it had started to dull the blue by the time i saw it. first thing i said was he better move that damn thing because i can round up alot of stuff but if you screw up the frame or wheel coating i have no way to recoat it anymore. you would have to order all new(atleast i know we have ordered in a few wheels in nuclear blue) or go a completely different color. i have been trying to talk him out of that bike since he bought it, and if i ever do i would like to know that i can keep it looking the same if something were to happen. | ||

what i have been wondering is, i realize that buell owns the color rights(i think?) Rice its funny you ask that. I had also asked that. They told me no. The powder company's that make the powder discontinued it. He also said that they had a small batch left of the powder and Buell's name is on it. They were presently do sets of wheels for Buell as we spoke. He said thats probably going to use the rest up. Demon Blue is still out there to be had though. | ||

I think there are still places that will do the computer matching of the paint. They do it around here anyway. Of course, powder coat is probably different. | ||

It you find the right guy that Custom paints he may be able to do it and get it spot on by tinkering around with the paint that you'd get computer matched. Even with a computer match there is some variations. It might need to be lightened or tinted,etc. Talk to a custom painter then see if he can do it for you.... your best bet. My bike has the amber wheels on it and my painter matched it. It took some screwing around with it though. | ||
