No no, not a Super Duke a 300 XC-W.

Never thought I'd own a 2 stroke again. Every time I start it it brings back a flood of memories from back in the day when I was young enough to compete. I've only had it out a couple of times but it is an incredibly good woods bike. More than enough power and still able to slowly bump over logs and rocks in the tight woods with grace. It's a bit heaver than my Yamaha YZ250F but it feels much lighter and more agile. It starts first kick no matter what, plus it has electric start. The YZ will exhaust me trying to start it after a fall.

I did sit on a Super Duke while at the dealer. It sits similarly to my Ss with bars that are a bit wider and higher - more like a dirt bike. I am not a fan of the 1125's looks but the Super Duke is downright fugly. It may be a great performer (I wouldn't know, never having ridden one) but aesthetically it has a cheap "plasticy" angular look that really turns me off.

That 300cc two stroker is probably the best off-road two stroke motor ever. I miss my 300EXC, but I miss my 520EXC more!

That's a good looking scoot, with one heck of a good size tire on the back (140?). The KTM offroad line is looking very nice these days .

My friends are buying 450's but I'm still holding out for the 2-strokes and that 300 is my favorite and what I am picking to own. The thought of kick starting a non-cooperative 4-stroke (once owned a 560 rotax can-am) does not interest me although they are installing electric start and still shaving some pounds. Guess I stick with the kx-250 awhile longer and see what happens!

When you bringing it down?
That's two of my buddies with new KTM's.

Steve:

Great looking bike! Do you have a place to ride in the dirt out your way?

PLEASE say "no" . . . : )

I agree on the Super Duke. One showed up at our weekly Bueller get-together a couple of weeks ago and I was not impressed with how it looked in person.

I always thought it was a great looking bike, but way too much cheap looking plastic for me (and the price).

OC - I'll bring it down in the spring along with the Buell. Have you got a place to ride besides the off road park in Snow Hill?

Court - I can ride it in my yard and in the woods across the street. I even take it on the road close by since no one cares. A few friends have places to ride a short drive away as well.

I almost forgot - we've got a MX track behind the office.

I have been in the dealer several times to look at the 450 exc-r and was really close to buying it. Over $9000 OTD! It is such a sweet bike but hard to justify spending that kind of money on for riding trails.
I bought a 2007 Honda Rancher 420 instead. Now my wife can ride it too.
Maybe next year for a KTM or maybe even a Husky TE-450.
That 300 is really nice. I would love to have another 2 stroke but if I buy another dirt bike, I need a plate on it. Good luck with it.

Snow Hill is all I know of. Now with a street legal bike there are lots of county dirt roads.

We've got 2 new Kawasaki's coming tomorrow. I'm getting the new KLX140 and my hubby is getting the KLX450. They both have electric starts, mine has dual disc breaks and can adjust both front/back suspension. Can't wait to get dirty.

Hey, I got a 2007 Suzuki Dr-z400s and put in jet kit and enlarged the exit hole in the exhaust pipe just a bit. I'm getting 46hp at the rear wheel dynoed. Scale said that it's 292lbs wet, good power to weight ratio. Lots of midrange, tops out at 97mph on the GPS. And it's a street legal four stroke! Couldn't be happier with it.
