I'm checking with my local Givi dealer to see if they can get them and at what price.

I like the increased ventilation and flip down visor. They are also ECE 22.05 rated.

I am very intrigued by this helmet.

Just contacted 2 dealers in my area and both said that givi only provides motorcycle accessories-wonder if they're only available from over the pond...

My guy said that he didn't even know that they sold helmets and had to go to the UK side. He is checking to see if he can work out an arrangement through the US supplier to order one from the UK side of the house and ship through the US importer.

I'd say the main reason they don't sell them is that they are NOT DOT tested and approved. The ECE22.05 standard meets and exceeds DOT but does not submit for testing unless they plan to import and sell in the US. To date, they have not had this helmet DOT tested officially.

If I can get my hands on one, I'm sure I can score a DOT sticker from the brain bucket fashion helmet crowd. : D

screw dot, I'll just get a snell m2005 sticker off of ebay: )

If it works out, and is within an obtainable price, tell your guy he'd be getting an extra sale

Andy,

A Snell sticker isn't recognized by any law enforcement organization. It's DOT or nothing.

And a sharp LEO will recognize that the DOT sticker on the back is only one of SEVERAL things to look for to recognize a helmet legally certified for street use in the US.

Agreed Jaime. The issue is that if you have an LEO following you, NOT having the DOT sticker is enough to give them reason to pull you over. Most of the time, at least here anyway, they only check to see that you have something on your head that resembles a helmet.

Beyond that, they just don't check. California, you better believe it. Tennessee? Not so much.

Personally, if I trust it, I'll wear it. If I get a ticket out of state, I'll pay it and be on my way.

I wouldnt worry about those stupid stickers. I custom paint helmets all the time and never put that sticker back on and I have never had a customer say anything. Ive been pulled over a few times and never had a cop ask about the sticker. I did have one ask me to paint his helmet.

The helmet I ride with most of the time is from across the pond and not DOT certified and I have never had an issue. In fact I was pulled over in Beullton, CA. and I don'think the cop even noticed. My next helmet will also come from the UK. I really like the Airoh TR1 TR132, in orange of course.
