I've always thought of a pudding as something with fruit and/or sugar in it, more of a desert course.

Without checking Google, I can tell you this much.

Originally Yorkshire Pudding was cooked underneath the meat. Remember we're talking about peasants England circa 1700 odd, so meat really meant the fatty bits for those with nowt. Thus the Yorkshire would catch all the fat and juices running out of the meat above, and as any good nutritionist today will tell you, back in those days such a dish would have served you well.

Jack, you should try Yorkshire Pudding as a sweet. Maple syrup and ice cream would work, as would any number of sweet combinations, spread on top.

I'd never have believed it myself had I not tried chocolate pizza when in Italy. Simply Nutella spread over a warm thin pizza base and sprinkled with icing sugar. Bloody gorgeous!

How can you have your pudding if you don't eat your meat!?

That recipe is a messed of pancake mix. Leave out the eggs and you would have bisuits. Either way, with butter and syrup...yummy!

I thought this example explained alot: in WWI, when airpower was still in it's infancy, a British pilot managed to damage a German plane and make it land on French soil. The pilot was unhurt and bolted from his wrecked plane. The British pilot (must have been from Yorkshire) tracked the guy down, landed his plane, and continued the chase on foot.

If you really want to push the boat out, you can have....

TOAD IN THE HOLE

Now before you all start the, "he's been living in France too long", no actual toads are involved.
It's very simple, you make your normal yorkshire pudding batter, & add a pound of sausages, separated & pricked, dropped in the baking dish before you pop it in the oven.
A meal fit for a king (or even a yorkshireman).
